Tweety this must be a difficult time for your friend

Ado I think that's fine, making cakes from scratch is a pain

Stars hope the new aide works out

Had a meeting at work, and some online education to complete, so it ended up being a bit busier than expected.  After work was pretty ordinary, did the grocery shopping and exercised

Today should be pretty ordinary at work, only unusual thing is a meeting with IT about the new laptop I got which is not quite working right. We were supposed to meet Monday but that fell through.  Thankfully still able to use the old one.

Tonight will be going to a microbrewery with the gay group

Will be a somewhat warmer day, in the mid 70s

I got up at 7:45 AM, reluctantly. Got Nannie up and dressed and fed; BiL came to get Nannie and take her to daycare. Now I have to go upstairs and search for the bag from Hearing Life, in which I placed my old, long unused hearing aids along with the charger. I looked for the bag last night with no luck, so here's hoping I can find it. I'm not sure if the discount is still available, but I think it is, through August, and it is still August, so.....$500 off new hearing aids. Well, that depends on what the rest of the charges are whether I can afford them. OY. I know I really need them, but there are other things on the list I need to take care of as well..... changing my Power-Of-Attorney and changing my Will, cataract surgery and new eyeglasses, I also have to get Tinker spayed and chipped, but I may do that at a clinic; SiL said she could find one for me and Tinker,(either cheap or no-cost?). And of course I also have to send some dentist's kids to college....?. Oh, and pay some exorbitant price to have the passenger-side door of my car replaced, from when I scraped it against the poles of the carport; it's gonna be costly!  It may be too much to hope for, but I could buy a couple of tickets for whichever lottery has the $750 million dollahs; so far no one has won. That would be great to win that, but also a real PIA because then I'd have to line up some financial advice and lawyerly assistance, but....at least I'd have won something REALLY HELPFUL!

Okay have to stop jabbering and go search for the bag I have to take to the hearing place. I guess if I do get new ones, they will have to be the over-the-ear kind, which (ugh) argues with my glasses that go over the ear, and they make it so I can hear my hair, which has nothing interesting to say. ("dumb as a box of hair" is a good, accurate saying.) Plus, talking a lot and chewing seem to make the hearing aids want to slip out, even though the ear-piece is "custom-formed" to my ear canal. But, whatcha gonna do? Get the dam hearing aids and cuss them like I used to do, I reckon. If the glasses with the hearing aids in the ear-pieces weren't so darn ugly and expensive I could get them. But no, I have to go with the annoying kind. OH WELL!

So, it's off to the search! Hope it is successful!

I found the (R) hearing aid, but not the (L) one. Go figure! But, no biggie, as they only have 2 of the aids that get the $500 off if you turn in your old ones. And somehow those with that discount were more expensive and not a style I wanted. Don't ask me why. I think it is the cost of the basic "necessary" aid (no special features). that is like the kind they give to old folks in nursing homes.

Now, newer technology has come along since I last was tested, so  I DON'T have to get the kind that goes over the top of, and around the back of the ear. The one I am getting does go in the ear canal but it doesn't 'disappear', it shows in the bowl of the ear, and IF it was brass or gold it would kinda look like a big button from a pea-coat. Bigger than quarter, but not as big as a one dollar coin. [Mebbe I be '50 cent'!] Anyway, my hair will cover it, and even if it is very visible I don't give a..... well, anything that might-could fly! Not so terribly vain (I prolly don't think the song is about me!) Anyway, she made the mold for each ear VERY carefully. She said my ear canals were smaller and deeper than the norm....(and who IS "The Norm"?), and I think the hearing aids I had before were not so carefully customized and didn't really fit all the way in to the canal because when I would talk or chew, they wanted to slip out a bit. She told me the aids I chose and the way she made the mold, they should stay in better and not annoy me as much as the first kind I had. Here's hoping! It will be 2-4 weeks before they arrive, and then I will be paying $215/mo for 2 years. I guess it is worth it not to have to say "What?" so often.

Gotta go get the Nannie-person now, so talk w/ yez another time.

Then I decided to go get my nails done, since they were bordering on disgusting looking. I decided to get a white/very pale pink polish this time around. I get tired of the white tip growing out so fast, so I made an executive decision. I'm not thrilled with these I got this time, but at least they aren't red-red or REALLLY pink, or like both the other choices I made once upon a time, ( one color was a maroon/wine color and the other one was altogether too, too 'sweet' and rosey looking. BLECK!)

Didn't sleep great last night. I got yet another bug bite and the itch is intense. Benadryl spray works for about an hour and the steroid cream doesn't help at all. It's dumb that such a little thing can ruin a good night's sleep.

Yet again, my little local pharmacy was unable to get my one prescription so I had them transfer it to Costco. They had it ready in like 30 minutes, after I waited a week for the local place. Costco is not as convenient, but dh gets some of his stuff there too, so he can pick it up for me next month.

We volunteered at the demo garden this morning then attended weed class. dh asked someone to come to give an estimate on power washing , and has him coming while dh is on a zoom call. But the guy is 45 minutes late, and I want to take a nap. I suspect dh has yet again mixed up his dates. He has this weird thing about not wanting to talk to repairmen. And then gets upset when I don't ask all the questions he had. Oh, well.

Gosh, Tweety, this GI stuff seems like it is really impacting your life. You must have some superbug.

Annie, I don't think I've made a scratch cake it 20 years! I did try the pear-feta-rosemary muffins but wasn't too impressed. The pears were so juicy that the batter was runny and didn't really cook well.

I am jealous of you all with your singing abilities. I think I am tone deaf.

I like microbreweries. They often have good food. They are quite popular in our area.

No Stars, YAY for the hearing support that is forthcoming!  I hope the woman who did the work is right, that these will stay in better and be a more satisfactory choice for you.  It won't do ya no good, if'n ya can't wear 'em, or don't wanna wear 'em cuz they's uncomfortable!!  They'd best WORK!  The nail color sounds nice, subtle and not too garish.

I am envious of anyone who sight-reads music.  It's a great combo, to be able to do both well -- which skills I cannot claim!  Each has its merit.  ?

nursej22, too bad the pear-rosemary-feta muffins didn't turn out well.  It was an interesting combo.  Whenever I get a bug bite -- and this developed from when I last had poison oak, years ago -- I hold it under as hot water as I can stand, for as long as I can stand.  Then slather it with the cortisone cream -- or whatever.  I agree, there is no cream or topical treatment that is fully, wholly helpful.  For me, the hot water treatments give me the most relief.  It itches like HADES when the hot water is on it, but man, afterwards, what relief!

I always like dh to talk with ppl when he is the one initiating the questions.  I am absolutely certain I don't ask the same questions he does, LOL!  We just think differently.  I want him to be satisfied with all the information he receives.

Joe, enjoy the microbrewery!

Hiya Tweety!

I did some hand-washing, it is dripping dry in the bathtub right now.  Did some dusting and mopping.  Yay for me, LOL!  I have been reading about all the dust storms while they are "building" Burning Man's Black Rock City, in Black Rock Playa, Nevada.  That thing, once the "city" is there, is HUGE!!  I don't think I would like to be there, even without the dust storms.  That fine dust settles on and in everything!  Ah well, those who go seem to really enjoy the experience.  I was impressed to read that none of the experiences or foods offered are charged for -- only Ice is sold.  It is to be an experience, not a capitalistic endeavor.  Interesting.

Dh worked on a broken sprinkler head this afternoon, in the heat.  He did OK, and actually fixed the sprinkler, using different parts from here and there.  He said this sprinkler was likely one of the original ones, from when the house was built almost 40 years ago!  I'd say we got our money's worth out of it!

Have a good evening!
