It's finally time for all WCCCD potential nursing students to begin the countdown. As you all know today was the last application meeting for the Spring semester. If you applied post here, and when we all receive our acceptance letters post again...
How long should it take for acceptance letters to be sent? Did you take more than the pre-reqs, did anyone take the "co-reqs"? If its not too personal/private post your GPA's for both.
My pre-req GPA was a 3.33 and my co-req's GPA is a 3.88.
:yeah:I wish us all luck and I hope we all reeive a HAPPY LETTER.....

According to the "FYI" board at the meeting I went to (June 15th, Western), the Happy/So Sorry letters should start going out in August. I've told my mail carrier to expect me to become quite stalkerish in August.
I'm done with all non-NUR classes except for Med Math, which I'll be taking this fall. I've taken everything else -Lifespan, Patho, Nutrition, etc - so once I'm in, all I'll have to worry about are the NUR classes. The nursing students I met in my nutrition class my second semester kept kicking themselves for not having done their co-reqs before starting the program.
Anyway, I have a 4.0 GPA (overall, so obviously the same for my co-reqs and pre-reqs), got 85 on my NET, and took all of my classes at WCCCD. Going by WCCCD's new point system, I figure I've got a decent shot of getting in. That said, I'm not one of those "I'll definitely get in" people. Why jinx myself? Heh.
Does anyone know if/when they call our references? Both of my references (including my thankfully-has-a-sense-of-humor employer) have been warned to pick up the phone and/or call back anyone who calls regarding the letter on penalty of death, so I'm not concerned, just curious.

Hi, I just applied yesterday. My GPA is 4.0 overall, 91 on the NET, and I took all my classes at WCCCD and have all my coreqs completed. I too, think I have a good chance of getting in but do not want to be overly confident like the previous post stated. Good luck to everyone!!

I also applied with a 3.4 GPA, I don't really think I will get in but its worth a try.... I'm working on a higher GPA
Me too. We are in the same boat girl. I am retaking a&p1 right now for an A cuz i got a B. If i don't get in i am going to redo 2. I refuse to redo micro i hated that class and it was very hard for me even tho i pulled a B out of it. Let's try to be hopeful. Our time will come!! lol GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

Ok, I'm planing to app. next Feb 2010, I called and found out they have not set the date yet
but they said it's going to be at the end of Feb. 2010 and I have one question if you are accepted at that time
when is the class starts? The happy letter usually comes on April.
Sp, I am just wondering when the class starts.
Thanks guys for the info.
If you apply in February and are accepted, you'll start Fall 2010. The application deadline for Spring is the last day of June of the previous year, and the deadline for Fall is the last day of February (according to the nursing information meeting and the nursing info packet). For example, June 30th was the last day for applications for Spring 2010, and February 28th, 2010 will be the last day for applications for the Fall 2010 semester. If you apply for the Fall 2010 semester, you'll get your Happy/So-Sorry letter sometime in April. Those of us who applied for the Spring 2010 semester are expecting our letters in August (and we're getting antsy about it! ).
Good luck!
Thanks Shannon for the info.
Good Luck to you and I hope you all receive a HAPPY LETTER! :)
THe books for bio 240 and 250 are being changed for the fall semester. So you prolly don't want an older book for that. THey recently switched Chem books too. They are like 300 bucks now.

I also applied to the spring semester. My pre req gpa is a 3.8 and my co req is a 3.6. I was hoping the letters would be going out in august but i just recently talked to someone in the nursing department and now they are saying late september or early october, which is irritating. I feel bad for the students who dont get in because they have could have been re taking classes in the fall semester instead of waiting till the spring. I hope i will get in but it will be close. good luck to everyone!!!!
Yep, a whopping $299 new: $248 for the Chemistry lecture book and $51 for the lab manual. Imagine how happy I was to find that out! (All the used ones they tried to give me were ratty and covered in writing; there's no way I was going to pay $225 [$186 lecture, $39 lab] for something they'd give me a hassle about returning [if I ended up returning it; I usually keep my books.].) The new A&P book is $216 new, but it looks quite spiffy, and a bit thicker than the 6th edition, I think. (Not sure about this; I've only briefly handled the new A&P, since I'm [blissfully, thankfully!] done with the A&Ps.)
Yeah, "late September, early-to-mid October" is what most of us are hearing lately. I just don't understand why there's such a delay that the letters would be going out two months late. I understand that we have "lots of time" to get things done even if they arrive in October, but not really: I have a hectic schedule, so I don't have "lots of time" to get things done as it is! Ugh.
