Hey guys. I'm new to this forum and wanted to get a more in depth information about Watts school of Nursing. I would love to hear the experiences from different people. I am planning on applying soon and also want to know about the pre-admissions test. Thank you!

I just graduated from Watts. It's a program that prepares you really well for the NCLEX and the start on the floor but it is HARD. Possibly the hardest thing I've ever done.

Overall, did you like the school? How'd you get through the rough times? Did you have study groups etc? Also were you able to get a job pretty quick after graduating? Thank you for responding!

WookieeRN how was the preadmissions test?

Very easy. If you've been out if school a while, the HESI study guide book will help you with everything you need to know.

Thsts so good to know! I purchased the study guide watts recommend. I'm not to good with fractions í ½í¸£ I've just been studying as much as I can. Were there a lot of fractions, conversion, and decimals ? Do they really give you 4hrs to test? I just went to the information session the other day and I fell in love with the school so I'm trying to pass this test on the first try and hope I get accepted.

WookieeRN was the math part just addition, subtraction, multiplication and division only? Or were there fractions, ratios and other stuff as well? As for the English, did you study all of the vocabulary words? I was going to use flashcards to memorize them. Thank you!

Hey WookieeRN!

I'm going to be taking my HESI test next month and I'm super nervous! Can you tell me what the math part was like? Also were you allowed 4hrs to complete the exam? And also your experience at Watts? I'm very excited about applying and I hope and pray I get accepted. :)

I am a current Watts student and when I took the HESI I was very nervous! Math was never a strong area for me to begin with and it had been more than 25 years since I had taken a math class so you can probably imagine how stressful it was for me! I ended up with a near perfect score on all parts but I don't remember specifics about the times. I remember the study guide being more advanced than what I saw on the HESI exam so if you are doing well with the guide you should be fine. Good luck. Watts is a wonderful school.

I greatly appreciate you sharing! Hopefully I'll do well and get accepted. Thank you and congrats on everything! :)

The math section on the HESI isn't anything to worry about. They provide a calculator, so I really would just focus on refreshing on conversions and fractions. Those were the 2 things it had been a while for me, so I needed to study them.

I enjoyed my time at Watts. It's very difficult, but I didn't have to worry about passing the NCLEX because they prepared me so well. I also basically hit the floor running when I started my first job. Watts grads have a really good reputation in the Duke health system, which can be a good and bad thing. Everyone is always watching (and will report back) BUT it also really helps you get your foot in the door.

Ladies what did you use to help you study for the vocabulary on the hesi? There were so many medical terms. I have to retake the test.
