Washington State NCLEX Application

Published

Hello guys! I am a filipino nurse and I am planning to take a nursing licensure exam in Washington State. I already took TOEFL and passed it and i already started my registration to CGFNS for my CES evaluation. Today, I just learned that WA State has concurrency issue same in CA for nurses educated and trained outside the United States. Does that mean I won't be granted an eligibility to sit for NCLEX exam?

Sorry to hear about your issue :( I'm Filipino too but am a USC. I've been reading a lot about the concurrency issue and it sounds complicated. Unfortunately, most of the posts ended with the student taking LPN/LVN exam since they were not able to get it settled. Good luck!

Ps....I would suggest reading some of the posts on the international nursing forum. Tons of posts about that problem

This really sucks. After giving your best to be a nurse only to end up working as a caregiver/LPN. I was considering the license by endorsement but I found out that you will still need to comply with the State's requirement where your license will be endorsed.

Hi i have a fried of mine.. She's filipina and had her BSN and got RN license in Phi.. So this year she became immigrant and residing at Washington.. She's planning to apply for NCLEX RN in WA and just wondering if she still need TOEFL even she's already immigrant and have you heard someone that got denied due to concurrency cases issues?? Thanks. i will appreciate your reply :)

I am not really sure about the English proficiency requirement once you are already residing in WA but in my case, when I emailed the WA BON they instructed me that it is a must to take the TOEFL exam since the main language in Phil is Tagalog. With regards to concurrency issue, I'm sorry to say that as of the moment I am having trouble clarifying the said issue. I'm stuck with CGFNS registration because I am still waiting for the answer to my question. I don't want to waste $350 only to be rejected because of the concurrency issue.

THANKS MACARONI for your reply :)

Uhmm I think she still in the process of CGFNS don't know about her TOEFL. And yeah I'm aware too in concurrency issues and I told her about that.. I'm from California and I got denied too and I choose to become LVN here for now.. Maybe I'll tell her to prepare herself to be denied and become LVN for second option like what I did. So whats your next plan now that you got denied??

If your education is gained outside US, You still need to take the TOEFL exam regardless whether you're a US citizen/ greencard holder.

Guy, while it's been noted that WA is listed as a state with the concurrent policy, it does seem it depends on how the CGFNS evaluates your transcripts. There have been some passing thru ok.

Hey Macaroni.

Im currently a 4th year BSN student studying in Pi. right now but i am a US citizen from Washington state. I wanted to ask if you were ever able to take your NCLEX examination and get your License after this concurruncy issue and if so would you be so kind to explain the process you had to go through in regards of the concurrency issue please. Thank you!
