wanting to return to my previous job?

I use to work at a hospital that I loved as a tech; it was a small community hospital. Just three months ago i moved to a bigger hospital because i could be a tech in the sicu and i thought that's what I wanted to do, but now I find myself not happy there. I wish I would have stayed at my previous hospital because the people and team work was amazing and now I miss it so much! I graduate in May so it is time to start applying for RN jobs. I need advice on how I can go about applying and convincing my previous hospital to rehire me? I worked there over two years and I left on good terms but I want them to take me serious.

If you left on good terms and gave proper notice then by all means apply! Can you get a former charge nurse or supervisor to put in a good word for you and be a reference? If so that will help. I would also state on my cover letter how having worked at their hospital in the past has made you realize how great of a hospital it is due to the teamwork and great employees and that you would be honored to be considered for employment there again. Good luck!!

DO NOT become a faceless-nameless résumé+application that find its way through HR. Walk into the department of your former employer. TALK to the people you used to work with and let the hiring manager know you want to return. Submit your application and resume after the hiring manager gets a hard copy and knows you are going to apply to specific positions. If there are no positions available in your former department, then ask your former manager to help you land a position in another department or to give you advice on landing another position in a different department. Good luck.
