i swear, working in the hospital can be so gross! i went to put a patient's bed pan (full of poop) in the sanitizer, and the machine flooded, pouring gallons and gallons of water and feces all over my feet, and in the hallway. i was stepping in feces water 3" deep. and this is the patient with a past history of HepB. i'm afraid to wear my shoes in the house anymore.
hey, did you hear that in some European countries that hospital workers are not allowed to leave work in their uniforms/shoes? they must leave them at the hospital to be sanitized. i wish we did that here in the USA.

Years ago the hospital washed the uniforms so they werent let out of the hospital. Today ignorent nurses wear theirs on buses/trams/trains etc. Im a student and id be hung drawn and quartered if i was caught in my uniform outside the hospital. They wonder how the superbugs got started...... MRSA, VRE etc

Welcome to the club. These types of experiences are one of the fundamental things that really unite nurses all over the world. I am sure that all of us have stories just as disgusting as yours.
Thing is, when you can look back on them - these stories are generally shared as really funny experiences. Maybe you can't imagine it right now (looking at your beige shoes) but it will be funny one day.

I definatly don't wear my shoes around the house, I change before I leave the hospital. Clinical germs at home/in my car? No thanks!

I once went for three months straight where every shift I would step in either urine, stool, or emesis. My poor shoes got germicided so many times I'm surprised they're still in one piece!
