Anyone else starting Walden's MSN- nursing education program on Oct 31st??

:yeah:

Hey teleRN, I'm starting Walden on Oct 31st, but not in the Education track. I decided to go with the Leadership and Management. I received my books in the mail a couple of weeks ago and I'm pretty excited about starting the process. I can't wait to get started.

Are you starting Oct 31st? If so we may have some classes together.

Just checkin' in and saying Hi.

I'm in Success Strategies in the Master of Science Program in Nursing Online Environment (NURS - 6000 - 23B)

and The Nurse Leader: New Perspectives on the Profession (NURS - 6110 - 23B)

Same for me. Have you taken a look at your books? I opened them up and started reading right away. Looks good. I haven't taken the time to watch the disks yet, so not sure what is on them.

Im excited too, can't wait until the 27th so I can get an idea of what the is in store for this semester.

Please keep me info at how the walden education is going. I haven't signed yet because it cost alot, so I'm working my butt off. So I will not have so much as a student loan to repay. I know classes start like about every eight weeks and I attend a live session here in my state. I'm looking to start the master in nursing informatics next yr. I was told it would take me alittle over two yrs and capstones. Everything is a go, I just have to sign on the line. If you can atleast update once or twice every few months to let me know how your classes have gone. And how the support system really was. It cost alot that program I want to enroll is over 27k. I'm single...no kids...so I will pay thru the nose, but I have been looking at different scholarships waiting to hear back. But I have a burning desire to go back. I wish this group well, and I KNOW THAT I WILL JOIN YOU ALL SOON. How many classes are you taking at a time? I thought it was one classe every eight weeks. Please correct me if I'm wrong...I have looked into three others local universities, which start out cheaper but only increase as the systems go on....so all running about the same in price. ONCE AGAIN CONGRATS TO THE GO GETTERS.:redpinkhe

Hey Cool1,

Since you asked I will do a small update. The first semester consists of two classes one which is 8 weeks and an online success course which is 4 weeks. Generally after that you take one class each 8 weeks.

My week runs Monday through Sunday. There are required postings throughout the week, 1 main, 3 resonses, and an update on at least three days of the week. APA format is a must and it seems like there are papers due approx. every two weeks in regular classes. The 4 weeker has one due every week, but they are very doable.

I asked about the class schedules, and was told that after the first semester if grades are good enough the academic advisors can do a one time double up where you are allowed to take two classes in an 8week period. If there is a second request to double up the request has to be vetted by the department head.

So far I've really enjoy the process. But I'm pretty familiar with the online format and feel comfortable with how things are set up. Initially getting used to the WU website was overwhelming, but I had signed up weeks ahead and had time to goof around finding everyplace I needed to explore. It is also really cool that they give you access to the classroom 4 days in advance of the class starting so you can download and organized before the first day of class.

I'm sure there will be speed bumps along the way (cause there always are), but so far I'm pleased with my choice. I also like that I get my books included and don't have to worry about ordering them seperately. I got them 2.5 weeks before class started.

I'm glad you are interested in continuing your education and wish you well on your journey.

Thank you so much for the update...Makes all the extra shifts I'm working worth it. Take care and keep up the great job.
