Hi! My friend and I have been on the waiting list for nights and weekends since December 2004. I've heard that you are sometimes notified at the last minute that there is an opening because people drop out, don't pay on time, etc.

Hi there,
I would say chances will be good. For a few reasons: If someone doesn't show to the info session they are dropped. You can't register for the fall until the info session. Also things happen, people decide against it, move or can't get their shots, CPR etc. My sister got called one week after classes had started last year due to someone dropping.
Good luck to you!!! I start this fall in Warwick-days

Just to let you know if you are on the waiting list are there is a chance that you might get in this fall by a drop out than if I were you get all your medical stuff ready now so they know you are serious. including your BLS. You will not be able to start clinicals until all your health records have been approved. You need titers, Hep B series (which takes 6 weeks for the first 2 the minimum of what you need to start), tb test and a full physical. by the way 99% of the HMO's do not cover titers. they cost me aprox $500. A few people found out the day before class started and they scrambled for this stuff. Also dont get all the books. get a palm pilot. it is very confusing at first what books you are going to need so you end up bringing a suitcase full. with a palm pilot a majority of the smaller books come on palm and it soooo much easier when you are in clinicals. By the way who did you talk to about getting in the fall? Make sure he knows when you have all your medical stuff out of the way that you are able to start even on the first day of school people drop. good luck.
by the way. I ended getting the phone call on Thanksgiving day. Thinking it was a friend joking around. so you never know when they are going to call.
Hi Laura, Wow call on Thanksgiving. I believe it, a friend of mine got her call at 10:00pm. I lived with the phone attatched to my hip for a whole month:) I luckily didn't have to pay for my titers but I did have to pay for my Hep shots. I have heard from others not to buy all the books. How do you know which ones to buy?? Obviously, I already have dosages. And I know you need med surg. I also heard nursing one you can pretty much study straight from the handouts, but nursing 2 you have to do all the reading...Do you find this to be true?? I did buy test for success because many have recommended it. A friend also recommended fluids and electrolytes made easy. What is your take on that?? I want to review dosages and the electrolyte book this summer to get a leg up. Now about the palm pilot...what do you recommend?? I was thinking this week that a time management tool would come in handy. But you have to realize I am 37 and these types of electronics are way above my head, tee hee... My kids could probably work them forward and back. I finally just got my first MP3 this Christmas. LOL
Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)
i bought a palm TX. on here there is a thread just for pda's. what I got was nursing central which has your dictionary, drug book, lab book, diseases and disorders book. all of which you need thrugh out nursing school. you can use the same dosage book. it is all the same. have they given you a book list yet? doubt it though. They are really easy to use and I am electronically challenged. yes you can primarily study from the lecture notes if you are a good note takes and anything that you dont understand look that up in the book. I still study from flash cards and find it helpful. if you go to plam.com it has all the medical books that you need there plus more so when you get your book list check there first before you buy the hard copy. give your back a break. brush up on dosage this summer and if you can get into the physical assesment for nurses class i highly reccommend it. It hels you out a lot to know this stuff before you start class. fluid and electrolytes made easy is a good book that was actually my summer reading. good luck any more ?'s let me know

Hi I too was on the wait list, alternate #10 and had to go to the orientation. I got a call 1 week before start, it was on a Sunday. Things moved very fast from that point on. Hang in there.....
