Im from Cincinnati and the waiting list after pre reqs to get into the nursing classes, there is a 12 month wait?????? i have heard if you get very good grades during you pre reqs, that you dont wait very long? Has anyone else heard of that??

I've never heard of it. My school has a two year waiting period no matter how good your grades are. Its kind of .....first come, first serve. Good luck to you.

there is a shortage of instructors as well as nurses. expect waiting times to get longer as long as this persists. plan ahead and forge forward.

Deb is right, lack of instructors. Here in Ohio, wait lists all over, even if you have the GPA. Some lists run 2-3 years or so I've heard.

Good Luck

Tell ya what, back in the 90's....I waited long enough that I had built an associate's degree during that time. Don't waste time in the meantime..... All you can do is get all pre-reqs knocked out, get the best grades and hope for the best. I was turned down first app; 2nd was accepted. There were roughly 120 applicants; 30 were accepted. It was tight even back then and this school was the only game in the small Oklahoma town in which I lived at the time. Some of my classmates drove 50 miles one-way to school. So, I know the frustration you feel. It takes perserverence and work. If you want it badly enough, you will do it.

all i can say about your problem is that: NURSING is not an easy major, it require much of your time and effort (you pretty much know all those stuff). But, getting a pretty good grades on your prereq. gives you a little advantage. I said that because you know that these days, NURSE arre in huge demand. It's one of the proffession that offer you a greater job security and satisfaction. The waiting period is pretty much long, maybe the reason why u have to wait for 12 mos. is taht they're only offering the program every fall or spring semester only. Meaning if you didn't get it the first try, you have to wait for the next semester that they'll be accepting application. Nursing program are very very competitive, hundreds of students are applying each time (im pretty sure about that) and they'll be accepting only around 50-70 applicants so its kind of tough! Well, just hang in there and sooner or later you'll get in before you know it.
