Wait Around???

So here is my problem...no one wants to hire LVN's around here for hospital work. Its all LTC or clinics. I have found 2 hospitals that will hire me and have offers on the table...

Job #1: I can start working right away, I will work with alot of my former classmates who I would be comfortable working with, but its S&W in Temple which is like 45min. away from me. And I feel the gas prices will just eat up my paycheck. But they have night differentials and weekend differentials that may be worth it.

Job #2: Brand new rehab hospital that is literally less than 5min. away from my house. Very small, but STILL a hospital. Problem, they aren't going to start orientation or anything for like another month!!! I graduated May 9th and seriously need a paycheck!!! They are still waiting for JCAHO to go in and inspect and still havn't completed all the flooring, stuff like that they are waiting on. But they do have the nightshift I want.

So what would you do??? Start work ASAP but pay insane gas prices and drive 45 min. each way in a TAHOE to go to work... or wait around and be broke for awhile longer???

I totally understand what you mean about needing a paycheck. I left my job to go to LPN school. However, I would wait. I'm a big fan of enjoying your money. That commute PLUS the gas prices will be a pain after a while.

All in all, best of luck with your decision and let us know what you decide!

Is there a VA hospital around you? The VA in Dallas has LVNs. ...Just a thought.

The closest VA to me is also in Temple. I think they may have one in Killeen I am not sure but even that is pretty much still 45 min. away. I think I am just going to hold out. Gas is now 3.89 - 3.93 by me. I think I should stay put !!!! Thanks for the comments!
