are killing me! Following our health department's instructions is very confusing! Does anyone know of a good resource to explain what the results mean?!? I have read and read and read the newest guidelines and I just don't get it! Right now I am only doing individual students that have been sent down by their teachers but pretty soon we'll be starting our mass screenings and I'm stressing!

I would check with another seasoned nurse in the same area of your state who is doing the same grade preferably. Children 6 and older have to read with both eyes at 20/30 to 20/20 to pass. If they fail, they have to be re-screened, if they fail again in like 2 weeks, they are referred. Here is a helpful link if found Vision Screening for Children - Children's Eye Foundation

Oh I hear your pain, and I am so sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed. I would be happy to try to help you if you want to private message me your phone number. What type of screening tool are you using? Also, here is the link to our Mo. Manual. and a Screening Training as well. Guidelines & Publications | School Health | Health & Senior Services (There are also a number of other resources that may be helpful.) Hang in there!
