Me: huh? okay try line four

me: huh? try line two (letters FP)

kid: rts

Me: huh? do you wear glasses?

kid: I have them but I dont think I need them

Me: come closer, yup closer, yup even closer, okay you are now less than 5 inches from the chart, read line 5 pls

Kid reads line clearly.

Me: do you still think you dont need to wear your glasses?

kid: yup

Mom: why did you send referral home? My dtr wears glasses all the time.

me: no she doesn't, she does not think she needs them.

Mom: You should force her, isn't that your job?

I did a hearing and vision screening on a young man last week - he forgot his glasses. In looking at his past history of H&V's, I noted that in 2008 the nurse that did the screening said the same thing. He didn't bring his glasses to school. One of the "goals" of his IEP was to figure out a way to make sure he brought his glasses to school.

Looks like that goal was not attained.
