VISA screen and SIN number?

Hi, I am Katia and moved to NJ recently from Canada. I have almost completed the VISA screen process for NY state and I am confused about what happens next. I got the RN application by endorsement (I have NY license). They ask to provide SIN number which I don't have. My question is-what happens after I receive the VISA screen certificate? What should I do with it?

I am planning to work in Chatham/Summit/Madison area (07928) in MS/NICU. Which hospitals have higher salaries and how well do they treat their employees?

Thanks in advance,

Katia.

What visa do you have to work in the USA? Some states will not issue a license without a SSN which you can't get unless you have a valid work visa.

Hi,

Right now, I don't have a work Visa. I am here on a temporary visa (TS) with a working husband who is on TN. I am confused now. What is the process of starting working in NJ as an RN. My understanding is that I should get the Visa Screen first, but what then? Should I start interviewing without having a proper NJ license? Should I get a work visa first? Please elaborate.

Thanks!

Katia

Usually TN visa is only for one person so you will need to get a TN visa yourself (as long as you have either Canadian or Mexican passport)

To get a TN visa you will need as I mentioned Canadian/Mexican passport, letter of employment and visa screen certificate. Once you have work visa you can sort out SSN and get NJ license. If you yourself can not qualify for TN visa then currently there is no way you can work. Also you will need to leave the US and get TN on re entering the US you can not get it in the US can only be issued by immigration at the border. There are a few threads already on TN visas may be worth searching for them

Silver Dragon, thanks! That helps a lot!!! I will definitely look through other posts.
