I know theres been a lot of posts & questions about VSC already, but please bear with me on this one - i just want to clarify, why does it state in the CGFNS site / applicant handbook 2007 that VSC is required for those "internationally born healthcare workers (etc) that are applying for an occupational visa?" and everyone is saying that it is required by ALL foreign nurses? i am just confused... what if the foreign nurse is applying for immigrant status/permanent residence/green card? wouldn't that be a different thing? or is the VSC required nonetheless?
on the other hand, is the VSC only needed by those coming directly from the foreign countries without initial visas (ie tourist visa) yet? or someone already here in the US can avoid VSC? i am really really confused as to WHO & WHAT SITUATION specifically is required to present a VSC, and also at what point in the entire process is it presented? before filing I-140? or where?
please help! thank you very much!
and happy thanksgiving! :-)

VSC is required by all nurses regardless on where trained if they are foreign nationals, the only exception I am aware of is if you are receiving GC through marriage or if you are included on spouse application and receive a GC through them ie you are 2 nurses and 1 is going through the GC process and you are on application as spouse.
If going through CP (consular processing) currently you do not need VSC when filing I140, if going AOS route (currently not available) then you need VSC when filing
ok thanks! but what do you mean, AOS is currently not available? in what particular way? thanks
Retrogression has affected everyone since Oct 2006 and apart from a very small window you have not been able to do AOS and currently no way to do it and no idea when it will change. Plenty has been written on here about it so suggest a good read

The same thing happened to me. What they (ICHP) did was they sent an email to me informing me that they disregard my online application and considered my actual (slow mail) as the official entry, which means one account. With my experience, ICHP-CGFNS have fast services I recieved my VSC less than a month, since they recieved all the requirements( School transcript, PRC License verification , IELTS results and State board Licence verification ( NCLEX-RN) earlier.
oh you could do that? i didnt know. i submitted my app form first before everything else fearing my transcripts would go nowehere once it reaches CGFNS without any me having any file
Question :
My secondary school diploma is in a foreign language. Ateneo De Manila High School. I submitted them the photocopy. On my LVN BVNPT application, they didnt have problems with it. Will CGFNS have problems with a tagalog high school diploma? How do I go about this? through CES?
I believed so, because it work for me. If I am not mistaken The PRC license was received first prior to my application(mail). What I know is that they won't do anything with your documents ( evaluate) unless your application was received, ofcourse including the payment, wherein they have to verify that iniatially.
Regarding your highschool diploma,... mine was translated in English just above the tagalog words, I did not have any problem. You have to check and do some reading in the visa screen manual, I think translation is needed. Or better yet got to your alma mater and have it done for you, if that is possible.Well Gd luck to you, actually VSC is not that hard to accomplish, especially if money is not a problem to you, just follow the guidelines in the manual and emails by ICHP-CGFNS for further instructions that they will send to you ... and you would not be lost.

If you are foreign born there is no avoiding it. I took my nursing education in the US and still had to get a Visascreen. And it is mandatory for green card or any other work visa in the US for nursing. Doesnt matter what route you take but I would not recommend coming on a tourist visa. It is not really the legal route and they are getting pickier with following all the rules so I have heard.
