visa screen for NPs

Hi,

I know that foreign nurses need visa screen. What if I have a foreign nurse degree, but came to school for nurse practitioner and get EB-2 sponsorship. Do I need my bachelor's degree credentials to be evaluated by CGFNS also for the visa screen? Or only my nurse practitioner credentials?

Thank you.

Are you going to get EB-2 with foreign Masters' degree, or you are going to attend US school to get advanced degree here and then apply to EB-2, or you are seeking 5-years exclusion?

First case scenario: yes, you will need to present all credentials you have, from undergrade up, including Bachelor's. This is just a modus operandi for almost any evaluating agency in the USA, for your future reference. They want every piece of paper you can possibly have.

Second case scenario: probably not right now, but you will need your Bachelor's paperwork to be presented to every school (s) you are going to apply for advanced degree.

Third case scenario: obviously, yes. I am not sure you can seek 5-years exclusion if you are a nurse, but if you can, all your case will be built upon your Bachelor's degree.

If you order anything related to your foreign credentials (transcript from your foreign school, diploma evals, etc.), always order second or even third copy in separate sealed envelope and keep it safe. It can come really handy in immigration/credential evaluation business.

If initial applicant then my understanding you need vsc and therefore what ever docs CGFNS require you will need to submit. They should have a handbook that explains requirements

It will be an advanced degree in the U.S., then apply for EB-2. Will I need my foreign bachelor's official transcript for the EB-2 NP visa screen? (I understand that the MSN schools will ask for it) I guess no one really knows the answer. The CGFNS handbook does not explain advanced practice visa screen process.

Thank you for the replies.

The VSC is the same regardless of visa category you apply for. You will not be applying for visa, your employer will once you graduate and find employer. VSC is a way for the federal government to confirm you have met state requirements and passed either NCLEX or CGFNS exam.

You will need your Bachelor's paperwork for school. When you apply for EB 2 screen, your school will have to send transcripts to CGFNS. In these transcripts, there should be an explanation why you were allowed to do Advanced degree in the first place - those Bachelor's documents. So you shouldn't present them fir final screen.

It should be so in theory. In practice, the rule # 2 of any US immigrant is to keep copy of every paper, email or any other communication proof safe, handy and, if at all possible, official and certified, because you might need it one day (the rule #1 is to never, ever break a law while here, the rule #3 is never complicate your case without true necessity ). So, no, you probably won't need that paperwork, but, yes, you absolutely should have it available and even officially translated, if it is on language other than English.
