VA Hiring Process

From the previous posts I've read the VA hiring process is pretty long and drawn out. I've applied to two different VA sites. The VA an hour away from my home I can always get in contact with a nurse recruiter and my application status for two posting says "referred to selecting official." The VA closest to my home, I can't get through to the recruiter, she emailed me back once and the status of all the apps just says "application received." I do know a nurse practitioner that works at this VA site and she tried to give my resume to the recruiter, but I had to apply online.

For those of you that are familiar with the hiring process, any idea what the next step is. In all there are around 20 RN vacancies. The two systems have two completely different online application submissions, how will I know if I've completed the application process correctly, its a little confusing :(

I've been applying since I've graduated and earlier this year I found out that I was applying the wrong way so those positions don't count. These positions closed in September.

Thanks in advance ?

Day 3 is pretty quick for someone away from the bedside for a long time--me :) Any idea where to get a copy of the study guide? I'd love to review over the weekend.

:) HR should be able to email you a copy.

Thank you! I just emailed HR. Fingers crossed.

Thank you all for starting this post. It really has calmed me down, well kinda lol. This is month 5 of me waiting for a start date. I was told it would be a lengthy process, but who knew it would take this long. I am a service connected veteran, so I thought I would already have my feet in the door, but boy was I wrong. I am currently waiting for fingerprints, a physical and the Nursing director to approve a start date for me. Good Luck to those of you that have already started.

Hey goal seeker I send you a private message

How long is orientation for nurses? Or is it unit specific?

Jumping in here...lots of waiting, isn't it? Received a tentative offer 2.5 weeks ago, completed Vetpro and Eqip 2 weeks ago. Scheduled for physical and fingerprinting next week. I wouldn't mind the wait so much if I knew everything would turn out fine and I would be able to start at some point. I don't like this limbo, but what can you do?

Finally got my official offer; Nurse I, Level II, Step 3 (new grad, finished my BSN in May) I did receive a call at the beginning of last week saying that my package had been signed off by the director and I would be getting an email with the official offer and orientation dates. I waited to post until I actually received the email which came on Oct 16th; so it was a little over 2 months from when I received my tentative offer (1.5 months from when I completed my pre-employment package & physical). I start orientation on Monday, Oct 21.

Congrats!!! I'm praying that I hear something soon as well, until then I will continue with school?

I interviewed in June, got a tentative offer in July, filled out eqip, vetpro etc, and finally received a "hard" offer, with salary in September. Started Oct 21. :)

I still wait patiently lol
