UTMB Fall 2022

Just posting this for those of us applying to UTMB this fall.  I figured we can communicate about the admission process while it is going on.

Who's completed the application so far, mind sharing your stats?

Mine has already been verified &  I've submitted the supplemental application as well.

Hey! I also have completed the supplemental application. I've also just set up my MySTAR portal, and my application is labeled as complete on there. Do you know if we have to complete any other material?

My Stats are TEAS: 96.7% | OVR GPA: 3.9 | I have some volunteer experience at a hospital and local clinic, but I don't have any actual work experience.

Sidenote - I saw you were applying to TWU; If you were looking into other schools for FA2022, the ones I found with similar pre-requisites are UH-Main, SHSU, and A&M Commerce.

I don't believe UH allows anyone to apply into their Nursing program unless you took your pre-req classes at the University of Houston, no transfers allowed.

I am applying to commerce as well though ?

You have great stats btw! You should be able to get into one of your top choices. I don't have any hospital experience, so I'm hoping my personal essay really shines on my application. Other than that our stats are very similar with the exception being that my TEAS SCORE is 94.7% instead of 96.7% like yours.

I believe we don't have to do anything else for the time being. They won't start reviewing any applications until the deadline has passed.

Thank you for making this group! I am going to try to submit my application today. Hoping I can tighten up my personal statement! Anybody have an tips for a great PS?

My stats are overall GPA 3.6, science GPA 3.4, and an 82% on TEAS. they are not the best stats but have several friends who go there and everybody's stats were all over the place so hoping I can put out a great PS!

Just be sure to address all the questions they are asking not just one, though if you miss one it's not a big deal from what I've seen in the previous posts for previous years.

For my personal statement, I got really PERSONAL. Like, just dive deep when writing this, don't give them some superficial statement they hear every single admission period. That's really the only thing I can say, as obviously what is in the essay will vary vastly based upon the individual writing it.

By the way yes, don't worry about your stats they look at more than just the numbers :)! You have a good shot.

Thank you so much for creating this forum for those applying to UTMB for Fall 2022 cohort.

I am finishing up my personal statement (it's my last piece) before I submit my application. It's just hard for me to write about myself. :) My undergraduate degree is in Finance. I took the TEAS and scored an overall of 82%.

My overall GPA is 3.6, and science GPA is 3.8. I looked at applying to TWU and I was told my application would not be considered bc I scored below a 64% on English and Language section. Thought that was a bit harsh, so looking for other good nursing schools.

Sadly, a lot of programs have a minimum on each section even if you end up scoring well overall.

Your GPA is good though, and a previous bachelor's degree should probably also give you bonus points on your UTMB application.

I recommend looking at second-degree BSN programs, they're available to you since you have a previous degree already. If you scored above a 55% on the English section then look at SHSU, that's their score minimum.

Don't get discouraged! You can always retake the TEAS exam but remember that some schools have a limit as to how many attempts they'll accept.

I just submitted my application today and I'm already super nervous because the fall semester is usually the most competitive! My stats are my overall GPA is a 3.9, my science GPA is a 4.0, and my TEAS score is a 87.3%. Does anyone know when the supplemental application is sent and what information is on it? I'm trying to do it as soon as possible since the deadline is in a few weeks. I've seen previous posts from other terms give mixed answers (I've heard it was sent in a couple of business days, sent after a few weeks after the deadline, or sent two weeks after your application is submitted. I'm not sure which one is true.)

I received mine a few days after my NursingCAS application got verified, I think it kind of depends on how behind the school is on applications.

And best of luck ? I'm super nervous too, it's very competitive!

So after it’s verified, will the application be shown on NursingCAS or your personal email?

UTMB will send you an email in regards to the Supplemental Application to the email you have in your NursingCAS account. I have seen on previous terms from older posts that sometimes it can take weeks for some people to receive it but if you get worried it doesn't hurt to shoot them an email :)!

Thanks for making this group, I just applied on Nursing CAS and I'm also done with the supplemental application.

I'm really nervous. My GPA is 3.67 and TEAS is 87.

Does anybody know anyone who has got in with these stats?

I've seen applicants in previous topics within this forum with similar stats get accepted. Remember that they also consider what you wrote in your personal essay, as well as any previous work/volunteer experience, not just your GPA and test score :). I wouldn't spend too much time stressing about this, all we can do is wait!
