UTHSCSA Spring 2016

I'm considering going to nursing school through the Baptist Health System in San Antonio or UTHSCSA. Most people I get advice from tell me hands down to go for UTHSCSA. I would like to hear from more of you who are currently enrolled or have gone through the nursing school program at either one of these locations in San Antonio. What did you like about the teachers, faculty, the content you were learning, etc. What were your hours like at school and if you had kids, how did you manage your time.

I am still a pre-nursing student and have one more semester in Spring of 2014 to complete before I can apply. I am very excited and just want to know more information. Also, a close family friend is attending nursing school at Wayland Baptist and informed me that their nursing program is shutting down. Is there any truth to this?

I hope the scores aren't weighted that much anymore. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

The computer is not part of the tuition, it is separate. The health insurance is part of the insurance though. Tomorrow is my 4th day, and I spent 7 hours studying in the library today for patho.

Do you have to pay for their insurance if you already have health insurance?

And I absolutely love patho, it's literally one of my favorite subjects

So who else has already checked their e-mail ten thousand times this morning?

i have!! Every time I get a notification on my phone, it feels like my heart stops. I know that they prob won't send anything for about two more weeks but still...I'm ready!!

I hope they let us know by mid-September like the email said but there is a huge chance we won't know until the end of the month (that's going off past semesters)

No you don't. But I have HMOx and opted to have the student health insurance because it's PPO and then I could use the student health center.

Have any of y'all started vaccines yet or blood work for titers?

I've done the hep b and varicella titers so far. I don't need a varicella booster still waiting for the hep b results. I also got a tdap last month. Hopefully I won't need to get the hep b round again. How about yall?

I got my titers done today. I also got an email from nursing cas because there was a problem with a transcript that they didn't receive. So I have no idea how that is going to affect admissions now.

I had the varicella titer done earlier this year in like February or March. My Hep b titer was done when I started working at Methodist and I came back non reactive so I had to get a booster shot and have blood redrawn and I came back immune the second time around and that was done last year. So technically all my stuff is up to date!

Oh no. I hope it doesn't affect your admission process.
