May 29, 20188 yr I've got two of my own :) I'm doing just fine. You really just have to stay on top of your material. All of your classes expect you to review the powerpoints and the objective before class, so that when you come to class, it's a review rather than everyone seeing the information for the first time. I spend an hour or two a day on Monday reviewing for Thursday's classes, Tuesday is clinical and I usually don't study. Wednesday is my day off, but I volunteer at two of the UT Health clinics, so I don't study really unless I have an exam. Thursday I study for Friday classes and over the weekend I do the bulk of my reviewing. The thing is, most of your grades are exams. You might have a project or two, but there's not really any homework. So all you're really doing is reviewing the material. The first few weeks are sort of brutal, because you're adjusting. But hopefully you have an awesome peer mentor to help you navigate through everything. There are also academic coaches that can help you set out a schedule and will keep you accountable if you need/want it. There is free tutoring and SI sessions for every class. And the labs are almost always open if you need practice with the tools and supplies and stuff. Also, my life tip: get your clinical at the VA if you can. I had SUCH an amazing experience there and I got to do all sorts of skills. The nurses were so helpful and ready to teach. There are quite a few of us with kiddosi had a question about doing the VA for clinicals, what exactly is the clearance needed to do it there? Is it something we can do before registering?
