UTA Spring 2012

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

Question: For those applying to the On-Campus Program, did you receive a "status" email? Very interesting. Does anyone have knowledge and/or experience regarding this process?

Just to advise that I also sent my advisor an email on Monday asking for verification on the issue re: employment at partner hospitals and moving my application to the partner pool. I advised her that there has been conflicting information given. She is NOT new, so hopefully she will be able to give me more accurate info. I am surprised I haven't heard back from her yet, as she typically only takes a day to respond. I will update when I hear something.

@Libra1018...that will be great if you can let us know what your advisor says!! :)

Have any of you all taken the UTA pharmacology class online?!?!! Would like to talk with someone who has gone through it! Thanks!!

OK. I take that as a "no." :uhoh3:

@Mochachild...sorry I didn't apply to "on campus" but I thought for sure someone would have answered your question. What's new? I'm SO ready for these 3 classes I'm in to be over..haha! Have you taken pharm at UTA?

Hope everyone's having a great Saturday!!

Hi, Mocha! Just wanted to advise that I also applied for the traditional. All I got was an email saying they had received my app. Nothing since then.

Also, to update, finally heard back from my advisor yesterday, but she COMPLETELY sidestepped my question about employment at partner hospitals and if an app can be moved if I became employed. Almost the entire email was about this question! Other than that, all I asked was if my transcript had been received for Tech Writing that I took at DCCD. That was the only thing she addressed. :confused: I will write her again to re-ask.

Tejas: Have you considered taking Pharm and Patho at El Centro? I know they accept those transfers to UTA. I think my advisor also said they accept it from Brookhaven. I have seen these offered online before.

@tejas03 and Libra1018

The both of you ROCK! :D Surely, there's more love on this board!

@tejas03

I can't wait to be finished either. This semester has licked my butt for real, but I still endure. We shall see. ;) As for pharm, I had this class last semester (Spring, 2011). It was brutal, to say the least. We had obstacles- i.e., instructor change mid-semester, computer glitches, etc. Definitely was trying. However, I enjoyed the instructor for this course (check under "Instructor and Course Syllabus Information") and have no regrets. To prepare, I would recommend that you check last semester's syllabus to give you an idea of how the course is implemented.

@Libra1018

The recent email I received indicated my HESI scores and the minimal possible points to be competitive (i.e., 300). If I'm not mistaken, HESI scores are added to achieve this "score." In addition, the email also states that my transcripts are being forwarded to the next level. Hmmm. As much as I want to believe, I'm not that special! I KNOW there has to be someone else with this SAME email. Anyone?? :confused:

@Libra1018...I'm in Patho now and will finish this week so I'm excited to be done...whoohoo! Will have an A...whoohoo!! It actually wasn't that bad of a class...enjoyed it and learned a lot. Still very concerned about Pharm though!!?? I am taking these classes at UTA because effective Fall 2011 UTA has changed their policies and in order to receive "additional consideration" (again..we all know that "additional consideration" doesn't mean a whole lot but I'll take whatever I can) you must have taken 30 hours or more of UTA nursing prerequisites at UTA. UTA website details this. So if I do not get accepted for Spring '11 (I'm still holding onto prayer and positive thinking) then come Fall '12 I should have 30 hours in UTA nursing prerequisites as well as my previous BA degree from UTA "additional consideration" and having completed 12 of the science prerequisites at UTA...which I was told gave you another "additional consideration"....haha with all these considerations I would pray/hope I could FINALLY be accepted...we will see??!! I will also by Fall '12 have applied at several other colleges/universities too though!! ;)

@Mochachild....great info! Thanks..I will check into that. I pray we have no glitches like that this semester...yikes! That's stressful enough...but yep, I've heard many say it's a beast of a class so I'm preparing for a tough semester. What did you end up making? I hope you have someone respond who might know what that email meant..when did you receive it? I do remember someone telling me that the scores from each section are added together and that's your HESI score...hope that helps! :)

@tejas03

I ended up with a B in Pharm...and I'm good with that!:bow: I received that email on 7.21.11 from E.F. (for those of us currently at UTA, we all know who this is), and it was some sort of "status" email. It also indicated that CON hopes to send out "status" by November 1. Maybe this is something new??:confused:
