UTA Spring 2012

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

Should we expect any additional notifications on our application between now and our letters? I cannot believe we have to wait so long?

Naw...with the exception of missing documents, this is it. After the posting of summer grades, we'll see some activity.

@mochachild

Thanks! Errr.. that sucks! I wish I could hibernate for the next 5 months and then just wake up in time to a good letter! lol

Hey guys....I'm here!!! hahaha! :lol2:

These Patho, Micro, and Psych classes are keeping me VERY busy to say the least!! :-/ I am trying to make an A in Micro and that is way harder than I ever expected. I am praying for the next 7 weeks to fly by and I can be done!

Hope you all are having a great week! :)

I would like to talk with anyone who works for the JPS hospital system.....have some questions regarding employment...feel free to PM me.

Thanks!!

Hello!!!

How is everyone...it's been a little quiet lately and I wanted to check in! :D

Has anyone heard from their advisor regarding the final count on applicants for Spring 2012?!

Hope you all had a great July 4th!! :yeah:

Hello all,

I thought this summer would be a light load for me with A&P II and Dev Psych, but the second week into it my 2 year old son broke his arm. That just threw me all the way off base and I am behind in my Psych class and holding onto a low B in the A&P class. I am striving for an A in both to boost my GPA.

I will be applying to both TWU and UTA in Jan/Febrauary, I plan on taking the Hesi sometime this month and sometime after that take the THEA. I am going to take a Nutrition course at a local community college since I can't take it at UTA in the Fall. I still have Patho, Pharm, POLS, and American History to take to be done with the pre reqs. I am so praying to get into one of these programs on my first try, I am ready to be a nurse! Wish I would have started this process sooner.

I was told to better my chances for the AP BSN program that I should consider getting a job at a partner hospital. I did. I have not started yet. I am wondering if there is a code or an application that must be filled out at the partner hospital that I will be working for in addition to my application to UTA for spring 2012?

Thanks for the advise.

Is it just that simple? Get a job with a partnered hospital and you are immediately allowed to apply. Isn't there some type of waiting period or time on the job?

tejas03,

I have a question for you. I'm applying to 2 ABSN programs and I need 2 more classes for each program. How would you choose which to focus on? It seems that my chances of getting in UTA are slim to none (but there is still a chance since I did apply). My chances of getting into the other program is a little higher due to the number of applicants. So, I'm leaning towards the program with the higher odds. I also have the option of taking all 4 classes this Fall, but will be overloaded....thus the reason to choose.

What would you do?

I would be crushed if I by chance was accepted into the AP BSN but lacked those last 2 prerequisites!!!

I'm curious to know this too...

I would assume you still have to follow the application deadlines set by UTA and so forth. I do know that working at the partnered hospital does allow you to only compete for a spot within that hospital's applicants. That alone is huge!

I do imagine that hospitals will start to take notice that there are way more people applying with the idea they will be admitted so I'm curious to see how that whole process of once your hired works.

Hope partnered students can help answer these questions! :)

Corinda...oh goodness! What other program besides UTA did you apply to?

I'm assuming for UTA you have patho and pharm left? What other 2 classes for the other college do you need?

4 classes in the fall would be a lot but if that was what you absolutely needed to do, you could do great! :) Do you work?

I emailed my advisor today at UTA and got an automated response she was no longer working there and the name of my new advisor so I'm waiting on her to email back with the answer to the question I asked (how many applied for Spring 2012?). I think all we can do is apply to as many colleges as you can and pray.

I applied to Baylor Fastbacc as well. Yes, I have Patho and Pharm left for UTA and 2 religion courses for Baylor. I do work, but I've been cramming courses in since Jan 2011. I took 4 science classes in the Spring and I'm taking Micro at UTA now.

Hey..I'm in Micro now too! :) How are you doing?

If it were me personally, I would go ahead and take all 4 classes just to be safe. Since your already used to fast paced classes you will be fine. Patho is not really that bad...just a lot of reading and information. I haven't taken Pharm yet...(August), but have heard that's a lot of work class. Religions shouldn't be that bad...I took mine at a community college though but still would think you will do great!

Good luck!
