Hello everyone! I wanted to make a thread for those applying to UT Tyler's nursing program for the fall of 2014. If you have any insight on what is competitive, or any thoughts you would like to share.. please post! I'd like to hear from others applying! Thanks :)

Im not sure yet!! I have 2 classes Im finishing up right now (Micro and Nutrition) and I am taking intro to psyc in wintermester to be complete in my prereqs. So as far as gpa points im not sure. I have a meeting with the advisor on Dec 11 so Im sure she will give me a heads up. How many points do you have?

I haven't recalculated my points or taken the Teas yet, but I have 69 so far! I'm hoping since I have better grades I'll be able to bring up those points.

Nice! I'm not taking my teas till feb 8th. The last possible testing date so I'm nervous! Ill keep ya updated on how many points I have when I get my grades back. Are u already a student at utt? I've heard it is a plus if u are.

Look at the point system. being a prior student is a plus.

You can start calculating points now.

Generally you should have 3.5+ science and 3.2+ core imo

I graduate in 7 days from UT Tyler.

Delgadido, I graduate in May with a B.S. in Kinesiology. I'm hoping they take this into account too (since it wont be completed by the application deadline). Ive seen the point system and I am in the clear according to the gpa's you just stated. Just depends on my grades in these last classes to see how much higher I can get them. Anyways I saw on their prereqs it says Stats 2 now instead of algebra. I took algebra as a requirement for my B.S.. do you know I if they are still accepting it? Or does anyone else know? Thanks. I have a meeting Wednesday, but Im anxious to know because I want to be core complete.

I'm actually at TWU right now, but if I go to their nursing school I'd probably only get into Houston which I really don't want to do.

When I was applying and looking at schools, she was the most helpful adviser I talked to. I really liked her. Ask them, if you already have a bachelors those rules may not apply to you. Are you looking to do accelerated? Have you registered for patho or concepts? Are you at the school right now? Last time I checked, it was a plus to get in. I score a 93 math and a 94 reading on Teas 4. When Teas 5 came out I got a 93 in math and liek a 74 on reading. Take a look at the excel sheet I designed years ago. Where it says Extra points, plug in anything that you qualified for such as a bachelors degree according to the point sheet.

Okay so I had my advising meeting this morning. They are still taking algebra so my points calculate to be 79.28 (If I make a B in Micro) or 81.84 (A in Micro) -- Those are also calculated with minimum scores needed on TEAS. So hopefully I will have a couple more points added. One thing that concerns me is that I will be looked at as a Transfer. I came in as a freshmen, but then I took a lot of core classes at TJC my sophomore year so I had to reapply my Junior year. So apparently that makes me a transfer all though I have taken the rest of my Undergrad at UTT :-(

Any transfers want to share their points? Or know if this is a realistic score to get in?

Thank you Delgadido for your help.

I was a transfer and I had 80 points.

I also did very well in patho. First 2 exams I got As and I got my acceptance letter after that.

Concepts I was getting As/Bs

I was penalized for retaking classes.

I honestly loved ut tyler as far as the staff and experience. Tegrity was awesome.

Sorry I havent responded, I been celebrating graduating and preparing for the boards

I wouldn't have to take patho or concepts till the summer but awesome! Congrats on graduating! Thanks for your input and good luck on your boards!

When I spoke with the adviser at the Longview campus she said that competitiveness depends on the apps they get. Sometimes 72 points is the average and sometimes 78 points is the average. I am at 73.46 but I am finishing my prereq’s and graduating from NTCC this semester. I believe I will be taking Concepts and Patho this summer. The application deadline is quickly approaching and I expect this popularity of this thread to really take off.

If the future posters wouldn't mind, please include your points and what campus you are applying for.
