Mar 18, 201214 yr I was looking through the site and realized there was no place for USF Fall '12 applicants. Just wanted to know who was applying and for what program?Good luck to everyone!
Jul 24, 201213 yr What is everyone wearing for "professional attire" on Thursday? (Just curious!)Also, is anyone doing the "Y" park-and-ride permit to save money?Don't worry kbela - I'm nervous as well, but excited at the same time :)
Jul 24, 201213 yr fuel4life- I would wait to see when classes start before buying a "Park & Ride" pass. I believe that the buses start running at 7am and if you have a class that starts at 7:30am then you may be cutting it close to get to class on time. They just started the business attire thing with the summer class. It seems that classes previous to that were coming to Match Day wearing clothes like they were going to the beach. Cutoffs and tank tops aren't really the first impression most want to give. I do know that they take pictures for the College of Nursing magazine and post them to the Monday newsletter as well of the new Nursing class. The pictures of the summer class showed most of the women wearing skirts & a blouse or a nice dress. Some wore heals and others flats. I think they just want us to look presentable. I'm going with a pencil skirt, a blouse and heals.(with flats in the car if my feet start to hurt) It's too hot for a suit! Does anyone know if we need to bring a lunch? We are there all day and there is not a place to eat real close to the College of Nursing.
Jul 24, 201213 yr My guess is that they will give us an hour or so break around lunch time to go grab something... but it would be smart to bring some snacks just in case! Thanks for the information on Match Day clothing - can't believe some people showed up in cut offs lol
Jul 27, 201213 yr Have any alternates heard today that they werent chosen? I really would just like to know for sure and they said we would know by today.
Jul 28, 201213 yr They sent an email stating all admitted students accepted their seats and the program is full. They will keep us on the alternate list in the event anyone declines their seat between now and the first day of class.
Jul 30, 201213 yr Anyone purchase/start the background check... From what I see it's about $200!! My friend says last year hers was only $30 - $40 so is this correct, did it really jump up that much?
Jul 31, 201213 yr Make sure that you check your USF Health email. Manny sent out an email about the background checks. We only have to do the Background Check, Drug Test and the Document Tracker. Do NOT buy the Recheck Background Check. Part of the reason that it costs more this year as opposed to previous years is that in the past they did not have to do the Drug testing. USF is bringing their checks/testing to be more in line with what other schools and hospitals require. I know that at St Petersburg College the cost is $182 for all of their testing & checks. There were also issues ordering the skills kit. (the password is incorrect) Manny will be sending out more info on that soon.
Jul 31, 201213 yr Great thanks so much! I called the kit company and they told me the new password is 123050 and I was able to order after that. Why would they give us an instruction flyer that says place your order and list things we don't need?!?
Jul 31, 201213 yr I talked to the company and also got the password but want to hear it from USF too. And I agree that the flyers could have been better. I'm sure that there are kinks to work out due to this being the first class with the new background checks and drug testing. The company does have a cool app for your phone to have access to your CPR card, HIPPA info and immunizations so you do not have to carry them; which is a plus!My suggestion is for us to keep looking at our USF Health email to get all the most up to date info.
Jul 31, 201213 yr Thanks fuel4life, I was wondering about the password on the kit site too. By the way everyone, if you go to Unbound Medicine | Nursing Central for iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Palm, Windows Mobile, and the web instead of the USF computer store site to purchase the nursing central software you save almost $40! On the direct site its $111 total (no tax) while the USF site is $139 + tax ($147). Just thought I'd share since we're all spending a lot and every bit saved helps. It was great meeting you fuel4life btw. I'll keep an eye out for you at pre-Immersion. (it's jason in case you don't remember )
Jul 31, 201213 yr Well I e-mailed Manny and he said its not exactly the same and to buy it from USF. I'm still skeptical though because the list of things included on the direct site matches the paper we were given, but in any event it might be safer to just buy it from USF. Just wanted to share what Manny said before anyone bought it from the direct site.
Jul 31, 201213 yr Thanks Jason - it was nice to meet you also! I'm tempted to save the $40 too - it's just scary if it's not exactly the same.Do you still have the list of the books that the previous students said def. buy to keep and one's they would rent? That would help me a lot - good luck on finding a place to live and making your way over to Tampa :)
