USAF COT 11-01

Hello I'd like to start a thread for those who will be attending the 10/18-11/19/10 COT. Perhaps we could get to know each other before going. Sharing advice and thoughts ahead of time would be great.

Wonderful. Congrats. Stay in touch. Check out the facebook page Air Force COT 11-01. I need to lock it down a little more. I'm having a hard time fitting into the female ABUs darn it. They run small :))

Congrats!! See you there. In the mean time we can all chat here.

Weneferd, I haven't tried them on yet...but I am sure I will be having the same problem! I am not a "big" girl, but I'm not as small as I would like to be. I am right at the top of my weight...trying to lose more. I want to be at least 10 lbs under.

I am on the facebook page Air Force Cot 11-01....Girls can't what???

I have heard we have to purchse the female pants for the ABU's then after can convert to mens; alot more comfortable. I too am not as small as I would like I take a 8 normally but am a 10R....haven't been a 10 in awhile. I figure we will all lose weight and inches at school. Reminds me of the movie Stripes (about 1980) were John Candy ( I think it was him or Bill Murray) was givinig his reasoning for joining the Army.

The shoes run small too as well as narrow. I bought inserts as well as those patched you can put on your feet for blisters. I hear we will get them!

At0055, I see your are from the Detroit area use to go there alot as a kid. My Aunt was a professor at Wayne State, she taught nursing but retired in the mid 90's.

Yes I'm from about 20 minutes away from Detroit. Wayne State is actually where I got my BSN from, loved it there ! Joined the facebook group as well

When is everyone getting commissioned?

What a small world! I was commissioned last month. A friend of mine (nurse at work) is a retired Navy Capt (0-6), I asked him to do it. Sort of funny as he was working at the time so we did it at the ICU family room in scrubs. My husband was there and I ended up hugging my friend first then the husband.

Thanks for accepting me of FB, at least we can get to see and know each other there too. I have many pictures of my family up as well as friends.

Has everyone told all of there friends and family they are leaving? I have told a select few, for now. I am thrilled to be going and I don't want anyone to tell me I am a bad mother or wife for doing this. I would hope none of my friends would but there are some at work that never have a kind word to say. Anyways the ones who I have told are as thrilled as I am about this. One is even thinking of doing the same thing!

I have no idea when I will be commissioned. My uncle is a retired Navy Commander (0-5) and he will commission me. My recruiter said we can make it a small quick thing or make it as big of a deal as we want. I plan to be commissioned at my recruiters office and then go out to lunch, that's it. I am also hoping to go that same day and pick up some of my uniforms and stuff from Scott AFB while I am there. I want to get boots, t-shirts, name tapes, low quarters, and PT gear prior to going. I might wait to get ABU's at COT, I have heard some people having trouble matching up the print.

I have told a lot of my friends and family, everyone is happy for me. I come from a military family and some have asked me what has taken me so long..LOL. My friends are happy for me but sad to see me leave. My husband works from home so he is excited, he can move anywhere in the world and work..and be Mr. Mom! My kids are young, 3 and 6, they don't exactly understand whats going on, they just know we are moving.

I have a friend that just graduated from COT July 30th. I am having lunch with her this Thursday. I will share everything that she can share with me :).
