upenn fall 2011

I found out yesterday that I was accepted to the Master's Pediatric NP Program at UPenn. I am going to work this next year to save more money. I have deferred and will begin Full - time Fall 2011.

Anyone else starting fall 2011 in this program? Anyone currently in the program? I would love to have a discussion about the program/clinicals/tips/living in Philly. Thanks!

Moved to the post-grad forum (vs. the GN forum) to encourage responses. :)

Do you already have BS in Nursing? If you were also accepted into the BSN program, I would love to ask you for help on how competitive it was to get in to the BSN program

Yes, I received my BSN two years ago at another Univerisyt. Not sure how competitive the BSN program is there, but Penn seems to have a great nursing program overall so I would assume that it's fairly competitive. Good luck!

I can't tell you much about the school or the city itself, but it's definitely one of the schools I'm looking at in the next few years...I hope you'll post your experiences later on and congratulations on your acceptance!

thanks! Good luck- I hope to see you there fall 2011 :)

Any ideas on how competitive MSN admission to Penn is for those who already have their BSN? I know that sometimes, the admissions team will describe how many folks applied, how many were accepted, and an average accepted applicant's GPA/GRE/years experience. Congrats on admission- I'm hoping for acceptance to Penn for Fall 2011! :)

I already have a BSN and was accepted into the ANP/GNP dual certification program for 2011. I haven't found a site that gives the gpa/gre/experience stats. I know a few of the programs require some experience and others do not. Also, if your GPA is high enough you can ask for a GRE waiver. I will be glad to give you my personal stats if you pm me.

Can't PM yet- new kid here :) Speaking of GRE waivers, what seems to be the general consensus there? My GPA is high enough to request one for most programs, however, I'm wondering if leaving them out might hurt my total application. I already took them, and my scores are strong- not spectacular, but good. Hmmm... so much to think about. This application process is intense!

HeartRN - I pm'd you with my gpa/experience. As far as the GRE..... I didn't submit any scores with my initial application and they never asked for them. I am thinking that if they feel they need the GRE scores, they will not make a final decision before asking for them. But, I don't know for sure. I guess it depends on how confident you are in your scores. Either way.... best of luck to you and everyone else applying!

LWeatherby, thanks for the info! Greatly appreciated :) I'm thinking I'll submit my GRE scores- not perfect but definitely not poor, I believe they'll contribute to my total application as opposed to detracting from it. I'd hate to leave them out and then find that they might have helped...:/
