Unofficial Evaluation

Published

Hi everyone! It's been a couple of months since I last posted, but I've been here almost everyday reading the posts. Was debating on whether to do the distance learning thing, mainly b/c of the CPNE. When I was in the traditional program, I hated being evaluated. I would sweat, my voice would shake, and my heart raced. Well, finally I got the courage to apply and send out my application and transcript requests on May 6th, received an e-mail from EC of their receipt of my application. Today I received an e-mail stating that EC did an unofficial evaluation. I need to take information literacy. What exactly is information literacy? Thanks in advance for your replies. I'm so excited and verrrrry nervous at the same time. :heartbeat:yeah:

Its one of those BS money making classes that they make you take. It took me 2 days to finish it but it can be finished in a day. It goes over stuff like how to search the web. Media resources etc. You can print off everything. You complete 5 short modules and then you have to take a 50 question multiple choice test at the end. You have to make at least a 70 to pass.

It's a total no brainer. I didn't study and passed. Unfortunately, you must take it, there is no way around it.

I took the info literacy course from Penn Foster. It was only $90, and consisted of 2 units with 20 questions each. You have to search the internet and their online library for the answers. It took me a whole 2 hours! They'll send you a book for the course, but it is really not needed.

So it is recommended that I take it at Penn Foster? Anywhere else? So that would mean I would have to first get approval from EC to take it elsewhere, right? Thank you all for your responses.

EC is ALWAYS going to recommend that you take it with them---cause they want your $$$. Yes, call or email your advisor--tell them that you want to get approval for Penn Foster English 103--then call Penn Foster and register--I put a post up about a month or so ago with all of the Penn Foster info in it--if you can find it. Im not sure of the number and stuff now. I definitely recommend Penn Foster--its over $200 cheaper and just as easy from what I hear---Good luck!

Thank you so much, fmoore723. I guess I can't contact my advisor since I don't have one? I received an e-mail confirmation yesterday saying they accepted all my credits and will mail my enrollment application. Would you suggest I do take all the nursing exams first, then Information Literacy last?

Its such a simple course that it really doesnt matter when you do it. I did it right in the middle (after Reproductive). Like it was said above, it only takes like 2 hours to complete it so its not time consuming or anything. So its just a matter of personal preference.

Thank you very much for your advice.
