**Unions**

Hello nurses..

I'm a student graduating next May and I was wondering if you can list the pros and cons of being in and not being in a union. I am from San Francisco, Ca where the union is HUGE and is spoken very highly of. Recently, after reading some of the threads on nursing news, I hear different points of view. I really, don't know what the union does and if it is worth it. Basically, I just hear "join the union" or "I don't need a union".

I just want to have the knowledge behind me to make a good choice for me when I graduate. I appreciate your thoughts and time:)
