Dec 17, 201411 yr Hello Everyone! I was curious to see if there was anyone else out there who has applied for the UNC-Chapel Hill BSN-DNP program for 2015 admit?
Dec 18, 201411 yr Hi, welcome to allnurses, I don't know anything about it, but I wonder if these search results will help in some way:Search Results for UNC-Chapel Hill BSN-DNP
Feb 2, 201511 yr Hi cali408,I applied to UNC-Chapel Hill BSN-DNP program for 2015 and the wait is more nerve wrecking than I though. I was wondering when they release or notify applicants. I have looked up everywhere in their website there seems not to be a clear date, the indication is March-April... I check the application portal virtually everyday.FieldMarshall.
Feb 11, 201511 yr I just attended the chapel hill DNP info session. They had 100 applicants for fall 2015. They are taking 5 for psych.I applied to psych. Not sure what to think.
Feb 11, 201511 yr Hi Free73,Few questions/Request1. At the info session, did they say when they expect to announce/send notifications results for applicants?2. Do they notify everyone...meaning accepted or not?3. Do you mind sharing maybe private message me any other pertinent information they covered at the info session please, I missed because I was unaware it was happening?Thank you in advance.Fieldmarshall
Feb 12, 201511 yr Hey FieldMashall, Yes, everyone will be notified by email if they are successful or unsuccesful. It all goes by points - Who has the most experience, how your statement of purpose letter counts, your GPA - stuff like that. BSN to DNP FNP has the most slots avail - approx 40 to 50 or so. Psych, peds and some on the infomatics and leadership have only a few slots as well. They had over 400 applicants for the regular NP program. Im starting to wish I had of applied for the regular NP program, as they are taking 20 psych. But they said they had a record number of applicants this year.Hope that helps.
Feb 12, 201511 yr Yes, that helps a lot. I also saw on their website that the notifications will be sent out on April, is that what they said at the info session, or they might have a delay due to record number of applicants?... Also, if I may ask, what is the regular NP? is that the MSN?
Feb 12, 201511 yr Yes the regular NP is the msn. And that's what they had the record number applicants in. Over 400. The BSN to DNP had 100. They didn't talk about decision notifications.
Feb 19, 201511 yr Author Thank you guys for all of the info! I am glad to know I am not the only one anxiously waiting!! I am going crazy!! lol:eek:
Mar 7, 201511 yr Well I was rejected from the BSN to DNP program for PMHNP at chapel hill. They were only taking 5 anyway.I'm sad. I wonder why I wasn't good enough. I hope the university of Alabama BSN to DNP program comes through. I'm sure they take more than 5.I refuse to give up.
Mar 9, 201511 yr I am ridding the same boat with you CCuser, I was rejected too I got the dreaded email while I was on my way to my best friends wedding. I felt crushed. I also thought I put in a really strong application but apparently not good enough.I refuse to give up too, I am setting sight on 2016 with a goal of putting in multiples(at least 3) different DNP program applications (I spent the night after shortlisting those which I plan to apply to), I plan to update by re-doing my GRE or MAT soon, then the statistics and research level class that seems all highly ranked programs are requiring... by then I will also have acquired nursing certification (which I am working on currently) that I feel will improve my chances for 2016 intakes. On the bright side, I heard from a friend who had to settle for the MSN, that it is very unlikely to be accepted to a DNP program first time... Time for me to show some resilience.

Time for me to show some resilience.Absolutely!!! It's aggravating - especially because I thought there was a push for nurses to obtain their DNP. It would make sense to have more DNP slots and less msn slots. I won't give up either - I'm going to work toward certification as well. I already have an A in stats and in research. I sucked at nursing assessment. Lol. I'm waiting to hear back from USA - applied to both the DNP and MSN psych NP. They are the only school other than chapel hill that offer the PMHNP and are approved for clinicals in NC. Let's stay in touch. You can pm me anytime.. other than the certification - I'm not sure what I can do. It's seems so hard to get into grad school. But then that is the only school I applied to, and I probably shouldn't make assumptions based on that. Good luck !!!
