Hi, welcome to allnurses, I don't know anything about it, but I wonder if these search results will help in some way:
Hi cali408,
I applied to UNC-Chapel Hill BSN-DNP program for 2015 and the wait is more nerve wrecking than I though. I was wondering when they release or notify applicants. I have looked up everywhere in their website there seems not to be a clear date, the indication is March-April... I check the application portal virtually everyday.
FieldMarshall.
Hi Free73,
Few questions/Request
1. At the info session, did they say when they expect to announce/send notifications results for applicants?
2. Do they notify everyone...meaning accepted or not?
3. Do you mind sharing maybe private message me any other pertinent information they covered at the info session please, I missed because I was unaware it was happening?
Thank you in advance.
Fieldmarshall
Hey FieldMashall, Yes, everyone will be notified by email if they are successful or unsuccesful. It all goes by points - Who has the most experience, how your statement of purpose letter counts, your GPA - stuff like that. BSN to DNP FNP has the most slots avail - approx 40 to 50 or so. Psych, peds and some on the infomatics and leadership have only a few slots as well.
They had over 400 applicants for the regular NP program. Im starting to wish I had of applied for the regular NP program, as they are taking 20 psych. But they said they had a record number of applicants this year.
Hope that helps.
I am ridding the same boat with you CCuser, I was rejected too I got the dreaded email while I was on my way to my best friends wedding. I felt crushed. I also thought I put in a really strong application but apparently not good enough.
I refuse to give up too, I am setting sight on 2016 with a goal of putting in multiples(at least 3) different DNP program applications (I spent the night after shortlisting those which I plan to apply to), I plan to update by re-doing my GRE or MAT soon, then the statistics and research level class that seems all highly ranked programs are requiring... by then I will also have acquired nursing certification (which I am working on currently) that I feel will improve my chances for 2016 intakes.
On the bright side, I heard from a friend who had to settle for the MSN, that it is very unlikely to be accepted to a DNP program first time...
Time for me to show some resilience.
