Unable to get into a Anesthesia program

From what I've heard, seems this happens pretty frequently. I've worked with quite a few nurses that interviewed and never got accepted. They interviewed at 2 or 3 different schools. They ended up going the NP route instead. I also worked w/ some that never got interviews out of the 3 schools they applied to.

I cannot stress this ENOUGH... There are more schools and seats than EVER before... Regardless of your qualifications.. ANYONE should be able to get into a program somewhere... IF you are not accepted... you need to put in more applications...Florida ALONE has a lot of programs that will accept almost anyone who meets minimal standards. Florida ALONE has about ONE THOUSAND Students and anyone one time.

What are the first-time pass rates of these/attrition rates for schools that are so easy to get into?

I'm not sure what it says about a school that will just take anyone versus a well qualified applicant. Kinda like Caribbean med school versus Harvard.

Not saying I wish anyone ill will on trying to get into anesthesia school, but it shouldn't be a walk in the park to get in. Any data on these easy-to-enter schools out there, just out of curiosity? I can imagine it's data that's not readily available on-line, and I'm sure there's ways to fudge the numbers like kicking out students who are failing/etc. but I would imagine that type of track record would definitely be more obvious online.

Once people are in...You have to be a " Double O" SRNA... licensed to kill... before they will kick you out... If a student has been removed for cause.. the first thing they do is "Lawyer Up".. I'll bet some schools avoid this by just passing them on... Much like public schools are turning out illiterate HS graduates...

FLorida has a few MD owned schools that turn out true " Stool Monkeys" who count watching an IJ line as putting one in. Actually I'll bet that occurs nation wide.... I have had new grads say... "Umm, I've never put in a central lines..... and regional? HA.

At a state organization meeting I saw a graph depicting the number of graduates over the last 20 years... Imagine a slightly climbing line until approx 2005 ( I think) then it went almost straight up...I would think by now it is off the paper. But, I am assured by people much smarter than I am... those graduates are needed. I am glad there are those super smart people to assuage my fears. It sure looks like over production and lowering of standards to me.

To the OP...If you cannot get into a program.. You are not trying hard enough or willing to be flexible enough.

Regular Vernors? Maybe.
