UMB Spring 2012

Hello! I am in the process of applying for the spring 2012 semester at the Baltimore campus!! I didn't see any threads out there yet for people who are applying so I figured I'd start one :) Feel free to share gpa, TEAS scores, etc and any updates on admission!! GOOD luck to everyone!

see my quoted post. not sure on anything else. i am an out of stater (is that a word) too.

Im from California, I went to an open house and sort of got the feeling evryone was a Maryland. I was just wondering if anyone knew if that was their preference?

Sorry for typo's.

well i would think most people that attend an open house would be from Maryland since it's easier for them. I certainly wouldn't travel all the way there just to attend that. u know?

I received one of my undergrad degrees in Maryland, still have a lot of connections and am moving back which is why I visit a lot. But again, I was just wondering how my own chips were stacking. Thanks for the response.

I am doing the BSN program and am actually a MD resident, but neglected to fill out the in-state status form, so they have me listed as out-of-state. Not sure that residency plays too much into their decision.

On another note, just signed up for my CPR class this Sunday. One step closer to having all of my 'stuff' finished before the semester starts. I have a feeling the next 2 months are going to FLY by!

AprilAnney- I live in Odenton; where are you? I'm not sure if I would be able to carpool or not (husband and kids schedules) but I'd be willing to take a look at our class schedules.

I'm in Crofton! I've got a hubby and 2 kids also, so I'll be arranging my schedule accordingly. I'm hoping to take the earliest classes so I can finish earlier in the day and be home with the family for homework time (oldest is in kindergarten) and dinner. I glanced over the courses and times listed and I honestly have no idea what schedule I'm going to pick just yet. Maybe we can work a few days out so our schedules line up...

AprilAnney-

Thanks for the info! I am attending an information session as well on the 27th of November in hopes to gain more information. I wish orientation wasn't so close to the first day of class!

I wonder how we get the permit? I clicked the link but it was invalid...

The link didn't work? Bah. It was doing the same thing for me. Try www.parking.umaryland.edu According to that, you have to go in to the office and apply for a permit.

Also, what information session is on the 27th? I just looked at their open house/information session schedule and there's nothing scheduled that day (it's a Sunday, right? That would work so much better for me because I probably wouldn't have to lose a day of work). I have blonde hair, so it's entirely possible that I'm looking at something wrong. I have my moments :)

I agree with tippeny. I thought I sent in my application for in-state but I guess I didn't. I'm listed as out of state (that'll be changing soon!)- so I don't think preference is given to Marylanders.

I also just signed up for my CPR class too. And I'm having my titers done tomorrow. Gotta make an appointment for other tests and what not. Yay! (Sarcastic "yay" for bloodwork and tests, but serious "yay" for exciting stuff ahead!)

Oops! did I say November 27th? I meant November 17th! it's a Thursday at 11 am at umb. I think I will go to that office that sells permits that day while I am there.

Oh, ok. I wish I could go to that one, but I have lab @ 11 on Thursdays. That one would be perfect because it's the day before my deposit is due. I could get a better idea of what I'm in for next semester. I've been on the fence about possibly deferring to fall because both of my kids will be in school and my husband's job will most likely be different (and he'll be making more, meaning I might not have to work at all).

AprilAnney- I've looked at the courses and have a tentative schedule planned out. Of course clinicals will be a whole other ball game! No clue what those will be like. I'm assuming they will start around 7:30 am though. My oldest is in 1st grade, youngest goes to preschool on Ft. Meade. My husband has a great, easy work schedule.... when he is home. He travels for 100 days each year though, and will be gone for about 5 weeks in the Spring, so we are going to have to do some before/after care for my older daughter. (sigh)

As for the parking permits, I know that the orientation in January has student ID, bookstore, and parking on the agenda so I think I'm just going to wait until then to get my parking permit. I may make a trip into Baltimore before that for some other school-related stuff, so I may take care of the parking thing then. It turns out I need to have quite a few of my shots updated, so that's on my growing to do list as well. So much to do in the next 2 months!
