UIC Graduate Entry Program

Hi folks,

Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?

My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...

From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?

Thank you so much!

I called and the person told me that all interviews will be held between April 5-25. And yes, ALL interviews are one on one.

Thank goodness, I was especially worried how I would be able to explain my new specialty among people who originally selected it!

Guys......

I just received a call from admissions telling me that my GRE scores were not received. I was like I don't need them since my GPA is higher. They told me is the overall COMPLETED bachelors degree gpa that they are looking at. I am still working towards my bachelors......

He told me to give whatever scores I have (which I took last year and did horribly).... And I asked him if this would affect my admission. And he said when they see your gpa they will see that your GRE scores are not a proof of your hard work.

Um :/ .....

yea, that's unfortunate, but if your GPA is already higher, they will see that on your transcripts. So it shouldn't be that big of a deal (hopefully)

so since the interviews will be April 5 - 25, we should hopefully find out if we got an interview sometime next week?

Yes, I believe so... We should hear back starting next week to two weeks after. I'm glad my application wasn't dismissed because of my GRE score. I am still positive :) he told me a couple of people did the same thing I did.

I wonder if we'll all find out at the same time or if decisions will be staggered by specialty/interview dates. Hope we find out by April 1st. That would be wonderful!

I know that all ADMISSION decisions will be sent out by May 15th. I read it on the website. It wasn't apparent under the GEP URL but I had to search and look around.

Right, I just hope the interview decisions come all at once. It would be rough for some of us to know and some of us to be on pins and needles still, especially considering what everyone who applied to the FNP specialty already had to go through. I know that the closer we get to April, the more the jitters kick in. This is SO incredibly important to most of us that the waiting is hard. It also gives me way too much time to over think and second guess everything in my application. Yikes!

Yes, that would be ideal. I really hope I hear something before April 15th. I have a spot reserved at Marquette and they need a form that says I will start and finish Marquette's MSN program.... I will send it in either case but it would be nice to know about UIC sometime before just for the peace of mind. Marquette doesn't start till May 28th (a week after my graduation) and UIC doesn't inform us till May 15th. Such a close call..... Is anyone else juggling their decision between UIC and another school?

Wait, what? I haven't finished my bachelors degree either but I didn't send in my GRE scores. Glad I'm not the only one that didnt but still... I guess I need to make another call tomorrow.
