I had my melt down about this time last semester. It got a lot easier after that.

Hang in there. Sorry you're having such a rough time.

It's ok!!!!!!! I know you feel that failing right out of the gate is a bad sign but you learn from your mistakes and do better the next time. Is this your first semester?

Go to your teacher, figure out what you did wrong. It will get better! Sometimes it seems like the end of the world, but one quiz/paper/test is not going to make or break you! Don't give up! Many, many people have made it through nursing school- one day at a time.

I'd suggest, besides talking to your instructor, to talk to classmates that are doing well. What did they study? Some instructors in my program would choose questions from a certain text or area - use your classmates to your advantage! Good luck and don't get discouraged!

I'm sorry :-/

Don't let it get you down. Everything is new and you're just getting started...you have plenty of time to get the hang of things!

YESSS this is my first semester, super stressful.

I cried the entire first semester!!!! Talk to your instructor, work with other students, and participate in study groups....all if this really does help!!!!

Nursing school is stressful and I'm pretty sure most of us have cried at one time or another, heck i've seen the male students cry also. Have a good cry and you'll feel better, last semester I remember having a horrible clinical day and when I left I cried the whole time I ate lunch lol I was starving and then cried the whole drive home. Does your school do a test review? ours does at the end of each test and we can ask the rationale for it if we got it wrong and sometimes another classmate will be able to explain it to me in a way that I can understand. Keep your chin up and I know it's hard but stay positive YOU can do this!!!

Oh I remember my first semester. It was tough with a serious learning curve but I promise you that it will get better. Not necessarily easier but you'll get through this and realize when to panic and when to brush grades aside. Your grade does not reflect the nurse you will end up becoming after you graduate. Keep your head up with positive thoughts and you'll do fine:up:

This is my first semester in nursing school too. I just took my first pathophysiology quiz and didn't do as well as I had hoped. I'm overwhelmed and very stressed. :/

I did not do good.

I just took my first pathophysiology quiz and didn't do as well as I had hoped.

I want to clarify something...when you say this do you mean you got a C instead of a B or an A. Are you failing the quiz or just passing?

I ask this because all/most of us that enter nursing school are good students. You expect to continue with the good grades through nursing school that you had during prereqs but nursing school is a different kind of learning. You are expected to think critically which takes time and practice. As long as you are passing, you are doing well in nursing school. Don't get down because you didn't get an A or that you studied for hours just to barely pass and if you did fail the quiz/test just remember it's only one grade out of hundreds you will receive in school.

If you're really stressed, take a break. Read something other than a text book, get some exercise, go out with a friend. Do something to distract and unwind. It'll be worth the time spent to refresh.

Guess what!!! I had the exact same thing happen to me my first semester of nursing school. It was awful: I failed my first quiz and it made me question everything. We all have this moment sooner or later, but believe me, it will get better! I ended up getting straight A's (something I have never done!)!!!! Don't get down on yourself. You can do it!!!!!!!
