UCLA Periop training program Fall 2011

Did anyone (esp new grads) interview for the OR last week? I did and I am pretty sure it went terribly. I should have done more research on the questions beforehand...I had thought of examples and answers to questions that were not asked, and was asked questions I had not thought of-although looking back I should have! Plus I was only asked 3...I was so nervous/disappointed with myself that I don't remember when they said they would call for second interviews? I don't think this will apply to me, but trying to stay positive!!:redpinkhe

Hey there! I had an interview as well, and don't think it went so well either. My friend also had an interview and she thought it was super tough and tricky! I was not expecting some of the questions, and they asked me at least 10! I thought the questions would have more to do with the O.R....

I don't have high hopes about getting into the program....

But maybe we did better than we thought we did? I was so nervous having 4 people interview me....

Good luck with everything, I'm glad someone else thought it was tricky and it's not just me :uhoh3: Keep me posted!

Ugh!! I feel like it must be bad that I only got 3 questions, although my int was the last of the day...:uhoh3: I also only ended up being interviewed by 2, bc the other 2 couldn't make it!

Wow, you're lucky you only had two people there! It was quite intimidating. And ya, maybe they were just tired at the end of the day and tired of asking a bunch of hard questions, haha.

Hello! I also interviewed on 5/24, but just saw this thread now. I emailed the assistant director we interviewed with, and she said she has not made any decisions, as they are still conducting interviews. Ah! I thought the competition would be tough enough with just one day of interviews, but I didn't know there were multiple dates! But anyway, she said she would notify candidates of their status in the next week or two.

Hope we all hang in there! :)

Thanks so much for the info! I remember them saying they wouldn't contact anyone until the end of the month, and that there were a huge amount of applicants due to the small amount of programs like this in the U.S...Good luck!!! :)

I'm a little bummed that they are still conducting interviews...I thought it was only the 24th that they were doing interviews. Makes it much more competitive. They told me they were hiring 10-12...but I'm not sure if that is new grads and RN's that are transferring to the O.R....I'm a bit confused. :uhoh3:

It's both experienced RN's and new grads. So, don't know how much of a chance new grads really have...

Hey, I know this is late but I'm applying for the winter periOp program. Were any of you able to get jobs? Do you know how many people they hired and what kind of questions did they ask that made it so difficult?? Was it more scenario questions?? Thanks for any advice!
