Tuition assistance?

I'm not familiar with any of the Greenville programs, but I attend a similar program at SCC in Spartanburg and every semester that I've taken so far as been listed at 10, 11 credit hours (although there are weeks that I'm in class settings for 20 physicial hours for labs, etc).

If Clemson pays for 6, that means you'd have to come up with 5 credits (which hopefully, Financial aid can help you with since it is "part-time."

The program does demand alot of attention, and I dont know how that would work with your working schedule, but thats just a thought. :typing

Yes, that's the other problem. I work full time at Clemson and unfortunately, Clemson does not cater to working adults. I don't know why, it could be a real cash cow for them especially with all the budget talks going on lately but I digress.

All of the nursing classes are daytime classes at Clemson. I could do one, maybe two classes by changing my schedule (i.e. coming in really early, leaving quite late in the evenings) but there's no way I could take a full class load.

Most employers-hospitals offer tuition reimbursement for succesfully completed courses (min of grade C). Some places require that the employee works at least for a year before applying for a tuition assistance/scholarship. Greenville Hospital offers $4000 dollars per fiscal year for tuition if you persuing career in nursing. Other hospitals offer only $3000 dollars per fiscal year. It is different in each hospital.

You could apply for a tuition assistance at the college, too. Try scholarships there. It might not be much...but every bit of assistance helps.

This definately helps! Thanks for taking the time to reply. Do you know if Greenville is one of the hospitals where you have to put in a year first? I definately need to work and I was thinking if I could get on with the hospital then maybe I could work night shift and go to school during the day. I really hate the idea of taking out a loan so that's why I'm trying to find creative options to paying for my tuition.

I am not sure if you have to work a full-year at GHS to get the scholarship. I think you need to be employed part-time 64 hrs per pay-period. Do you work at Greenville Hospital now? Look at their website. They have a lot of jobs posted. It is a big hospital and they always have openings. As long as you take 6 credit hours at Tech the lottery tuition assistance program pays some. Apply for FAFSA to get any lottery tuition assistance money. Then apply for the Scholarship through the college. Most of them require the student to be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester. Don't hesitate to apply for scholarships.
