NJ22 hope the camping trip is going well

Stars glad you got the banking stuff taken care of

Weather is better here now. Yesterday much of the family went on a hike with my cousin. Since my cousin likes to set a fast pace I declined, instead I drove the older family members down to the preserved pioneeer village nearby. Saw some demonstrations of loom weaving and milling corn. Later I attempted to hike to one of the caves, but the massive rains of Sunday left the streams overflowing and trails washed out or covered in slippery mud. My nephew and my cousin and his son arrived later in the day and that evening we hung out in the game room and ordered pizza

Today I'll be leaving with my dad and his ladyfriend. My sister and her family will be leaving too

Has been a nice trip but the inn has been a bit underwhelming. Their food has never been good but it was at least cheap, but this year the prices have gone way up. Cell reception is quite poor and the rooms, while recently updated, aren't that great either. We're already talking about trying a closer location for next year

Weather will be nice, no rain and temps in the upper 70s

So, last night I got a whole bunch of bills and statements and saved papers sorted through, and it's a good thing I did, as I found a copy of my will, and my ORIGINAL social security card, plus some other records of things I will need to get my driver's license and some other things switched over to become a Florida resident 'legally' by proving who I am. Stuff I read on-line that would be necessary -- proof of identity, etc. Don't ask for further explanation because I am not exactly clear about why ALL these things are necessary. I wasn't really even looking FOR them; I was getting the shredding pile added to, and came across things the shouldn't just be shredded. And by tearing off as much of the papers which didn't contain any identifying information, I have saved myself a good bit of money, because who wants to pay to shred empty spaces? I think once again, I have more empty envelopes and blank pieces of paper than what NEEDS shredding. By doing that to the bagful of what I brought in yesterday, I probably saved myself HALF of what I actually paid. Sometimes P-I-A tasks are worth the time. And I think I originally started saving receipts, etc, was because of that time I found the refrigerator documents that proved I still had one day left that proved my purchase was NOT YET out of warranty, and SEARS had to foot the bill! I felt triumphant when I found that!

Today, more sorting and eliminating what I don't have to pack. I also am collecting items to take up space in the POD so stuff won't be sliding around mid-travel, if the brakes of the truck have to be suddenly called into use: old towels and pillows and the like, which can be disposed of once I arrive. I will probably also end up putting all those excess photos into the recycling bin; if there's anything I don't want visible I will SNIP that portion of the photo out; not too many of those, but I will still do so. May be un-necessary to most, but I have to do it for my own peace of mind. Maybe I'm just making work for myself, but I don't care. Like I said, the things I NEED to pack will be easier to deal with once the krapp is eliminated. And I still am leaving a lot of stuff to be dealt with when SiL and BiL have to clear out the rest of the house. If they aren't going to pay me any money (which I don't know, but suspect will be the case) from the sale of the house, I will make them earn the time they have to put in to do so.

One of the interesting things I found was a copy of a photo of hubby's uncle when he was a 3 year old. Accompanying it was a letter from a distant cousin of Nannies which told of the time that the then very-young-uncle was invited to accompany a neighboring grandfather who used to take his same-age grandchild out for Sunday drives. The other kid was so jealous of him being invited on the drive he and his grandfather made, that he punched the young uncle in the gut twice, quite hard! Nothing anyone in the family who is alive now would find interesting, but it amused me to read that anecdote. I didn't save it, but I enjoyed coming across it in Nannie's saved letters.

I am lolling in bed with Tinker because I have two hours before I have the appt with the banker. After I get dressed I will feed Tink her breakfast and take her out for the usual walking of the yard.

Last night while I was doing the dishes I watched out the window above the sink --- two baby deer romping around near the tree-line of the back of the back yard. They were soooo cute! Mama Doe was grazing nearby to keep an eye on them. // And I keep forgetting to mention that about a week and a half ago during one of our morning walks..... Tinker was trotting along with her nose to the ground and suddenly jumped backwards when her nose came upon a box turtle that was half the size of an adult box turtle. I stopped to stroke it on its shell and said we wouldn't bother it any further and I hope it made it to where it was headed, which was for some reason OUT of the shelter of the protecting weeds and grasses and into the dry, open yard. Maybe it changed it's mind and went back to where it was safe. It wouldn't have found any water or food where it was headed to. But I know it's a no-no to turn a traveling box turtle around from its chosen path, and since there was no traffic to save it from I didn't have to carry it across a road.

OKAY, blah, blah and blah. On with the day!

Good morning!

Joe and J22, hope you enjoy your trips.

Stars, while I might shake my head that you don't take advantage of automatic bill paying and online banking I'm not shaking my head. Some techno speak is too complicated. I would think that changing a bank needs to be done in person anyway.

My emergency fund is not in a brick and mortar bank but a completely online one. It offers good interest compared to the credit union I'm in, and it keeps the money out of my sight when I look online at my checking account activity. I have automatic transfer of $100 every payday and then I manually transfer money in there to save for travel and insurance. My one issue is that if I need the money transfers from it to my checking account are not instant, so I keep a little in my checking account for low-grade emergency needs. I also keep $200 in my fireproof box where my passport, birth certificate and living will are.

I survived an overtime shift yesterday and three 12's in a row. (One reason I have an emergency fund in the first place). It's been a little rough. On Sunday they pulled a nurse making us short staffed and yesterday were were short a nurse and a tech. It's annoying that when we are fully staffed they view us as having an extra nurse to pull. Still there are times nurses float to us so I should be quiet.

I decided to stay light hearted about being made fun of twice by a couple of coworkers. They were making fun of how I was eating an orange and looking at my phone during lunch. Didn't make sense but I let them have their laugh. Then it was funny that I didn't realize the coffee was out and drank out of a black up and said "gee I drank half of this coffee before I realized it was water". It was funny and worthy of a laugh and I was making fun of myself, but one of the nurses texted a coworker to tell her. Really? I made a group chat and included the wrong Rachael and one of said nurses said "are you okay"? No, I'm tired, stressed, overworked, harassed and human.

I Googled "can corticosteroids cause brain fog" and the answer was yes, so that's what I'm blaming some of my symptoms on. I'm scattered brained on a good day but seem worse lately. Also, BP is a bit elevated and I blame the meds there too. Just two more months of treatment to go.

On a happy note World Cup visitors seem to be giving us good reviews as hosts with hospitality and good food. The consensus seems to be that it's a great success and will elevate our image. Some are saying they don't like our President or politics but they are liking us and our food. A contingent of Brazilians are in Miami having a good time now.

The other day I was back in the administrative offices after taking a patient complaint in the conference room. The latest joke has been about Hubs having shingles and I bought him a TENS unit. (a) this was before he showed me the rash, and (b) I was trying to help with his back pain, but (yes) it's kind of funny. So someone brought that up and we were laughing about that and other things, and then worried that the patient might still be around and think we were laughing at him and his situation, which we were not. We looked, and he appeared to be gone. No, Mr. Patient, we aren't making fun of you. We are making fun of me.

Too much to do this week and I'm having a hard time resisting the tasty carbs.

We drove 1 1/2 hours to visit a master gardener demo garden going from 60 degree fog to 93 degree heat. Just heading back now. I just had the oddest street tacos for lunch. They weren't bad, but the only Mexican element in them was the tortillas. Even tho it's hot, the area here around Roseburg, OR is beautiful.

Learned today that all I have to do is get my driver's license in Florida and go into each one of my two banks and give them my change of address, as proven to be my legal residence with the new driver's license. Also I am having some of my statements sent to my new address as further proof of my residence. And I can order checks with my new address on 'em. I don't have to change banks at all! My acct #'s will be the same and everything! A lot easier than I was expecting, and such a relief! I was worrying un-necessarily due to my lack of knowledge.

The guy who is buying hubby's tools has given me the first installment of our agreed upon total, in cash. I gave him a receipt, and before I move I will give him a couple self-addressed stamped envelopes so he can mail me the other payments, and I can mail him back a receipt. It'll take a while for him to make his final payment as he only gets one check a month. I think I told you that already; so four more months of payments and that'll be paid in full. YAY!

I have almost finished the sorting between shredding and recycling. I am going to weigh each trash bag, then see what I have to pay for the shredding and figure out how much I have saved by doing the tedious job of tearing off personal info. There is a LOT of blank spaces on the bills and receipts and statements, so I bet I have saved a bunch by putting myself through all this work! I MOST hated dealing with the HUMANA summary statements, and second were the Medicare statements. Bleh!

Well Tinker is waiting for me to go upstairs. I've noticed henever she has to wait for me to do the things that humans do, she goes and grabs her chew bone and chews on it vigorously. Which she has been doing while leaning up against my thigh. OK Tink, I can take a hint!

Good night! (She becomes a happy dog when I close my laptop!)
