Trying to get into an RN program, help..

Hello all,

I am new to this site and just graduated from the LPN program May 07. I am now working as an LPN and will be applying to the LPN-RN program at Century College, North Hennepin, and Saint Kates. Hopefully I will get into at least 1 of them to start May 08, if that goes well, I will be done May 09 with my RN. My question is, how competitive are the LPN-RN programs here? Have any of you RN done this route and did you get in the first try? What was your GPA? sorry for asking so many questions. I really hope I get in but won't know until November for century and april for NHCC. I would like to hear from other RN who did this route .. thanks!

I graduated from MCTC's LPN-RN mobility program in December of last year. Great program, very rigorous. My only complaint was that the transition class that is required is a bit of a joke - I got more out of the clinical than I did from the actual class.

As for difficulty getting in, I had a 3.8GPA from my LPN program, and already had a BA I had earned back before there were iPods and PCs. I believe they have one of the only programs were Chemistry is not a requirement, but the prereqs were definately tough (A&P, Pathophys), and some were not (Nutrition, which I found I actually liked!).

Good luck with your attempts!

Gee,

I'm currently working on a few prereq's for Century. I'm taking my time instead of full steam ahead as I am disabled. I felt really comfortable at Century. It was cheaper than St. Kate's for sure and I think the wait is longer there as well. Could be wrong on that but.......

If you have your math req and A & P, I think you move forward at Century. The nursing advocate there (in admissions) is really nice. Her name is Sherry.

Century took all my prev classes that were req, I just have to finish up Micro and Math for Nursing (my choice) and then I'll apply. I came to Century with a 4.0 GPA, but I have been out of school for years.

Good Luck!:welcome::welcome:
