Trying to find a nursing program in PA

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hello all... I am considering moving to PA from Detroit, MI and I was wondering if anyone could give me the names of any good RN programs. I have looked at a few on the internet but I just was wondering about programs in areas that would be okay for a 21 yr old getting out on her own. I only have a few pre-reqs completed so I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs that included the pre-reqs??

Thanks for all of your feedback in advance!

What area of PA are you looking at?

In Pittsburgh there is the Community College of Allegheny County (www.ccac.edu). You can take your pre-reqs (math, English, etc.) at CCAC and when you complete them you can apply to the nursing program. It's best if you get the co-req courses (A&P, Micro, upper level math) out of the way so when you do apply to the nursing program, all you'll have are the nursing courses to focus on.

I don't know which part of PA you want to move to, but have you figured out what you will do for housing and employment?

There are several community colleges. I am currently in Montgomery County Community College....near Philly, there is also Delaware County Community college also near Philly, abington memorial hospital has a diploma RN program just outside of Philly, Eastern University has a program just outside of Philly. Reading Area hospital has a diploma program as well....hope this is helpful.

Specializes in long-term-care, LTAC, PCU.

There are several nursing schools in the pittsburgh area. Shadyside, west penn, university of pittsburgh, carlow, catham, comm college of allegheny county, just to name a few. If you're looking for a more rural area, Westmoreland county comm. county in youngwood pa is good, that's where I got my LPN. I am currently enrolled at Conemaugh school of nursing in johnstown pa. There is a heavy clinical component in this program (which originally drew me to the program). I'm getting a great education right now. The cost of living is also much less once you get outside of pittsburgh. Happy searching!
