trying to find a college..

okay so i plan on attending college fall 2007 for adn(rn). however, i have no idea where to attend. if there are any schools in the us that anyone can recommend please do. i just want an insight on some of the top schools in the us for rn programs. i've been looking at universities and such but all they have are rn-bsn or msn programs. so please help if anyone has any ideas. thanks

You can go to allnursingschools.com and enter your state, the type of program you want (ADN, LPN, BSN, MSN ect) and it will bring up the schools that meet your search criteria. It will also let you know if they are accredited (sp). You can then go to that schools web page and find out info on the program. I do know that the University of Washington has one of the top rated BSN programs in the country. I think they have been ranked #1 or in the top 10 for something like the last 10yrs. Hope that helps. :D

I've never seen rankings on ADN schools. Look into the local community colleges. Also if you search around your states Board of Nursing Website you may find NCLEX passage rates for the nursing programs within the state. That may give you a clue as to what school you'd be interested in.

Fall 2007 has either started now or is days away from starting. Most ADN classes (they are taught in community colleges) have waiting lists and a long list of pre req's. It's great that you want to be a nurse. Call your local community college and find out if they have a nursing program, enroll and start classes. An ADN will take about 3 years to get, so start getting your pre req's done this fall.:D

all the top nursing schools are bsn schools. this is because the bsn is recognized as the entry level for professional nursing by all the professional nursing organizations. there has been a push for many years to make the bsn the only level of nursing education for rns and do away with adns. i am from cleveland. tri-c in your area has been among the primary producer of adn nurses for years. if you can afford to go to a bsn program then that is what you should do. as you will see from the list of nursing schools in ohio that i've linked you into below, there are a number of bsn schools in ohio. you have one of the premier schools of nursing, case western reserve, right there in cleveland. people from all over the country are clamoring to get into their nursing school because of the caliber of the nursing professors who teach there. if you have the grades, the sat scores, then you should be applying there are well.

do you understand that an rn is a leader and not just a hands on nurse delivering nursing care? this is why the push for the higher education. it is to prepare the nurse for leadership. have you read the information about nursing at these sites?
