no nclex no visa in consulate interview in manila? is this possible? what if only cgfns and i'm planning to take nclex in illinois.

Why do you have to take it in IL when you can take it in Makati, PH ?

Maybe you can contact the US Embassy directly and ask. Before, there were no problems if just a CGFNS passer. Not sure now. There has always been applicants that could not pass the NCLEX after CGFNS and some don't even try at all once they are already in the US.

There is certainly an argument on not giving a GC who aren't NCLEX passers yet, esp. if there is an NCLEX testing center right in the Philippines and touted to be one of the largest outside the US. Many problems arise from it. Non-NCLEX passers aren't given the same rate and subject to being 'abused' or 'disadvantaged' by employers. Then complaining that they are not given the same rate as others even though they shouldn't be really since they are not licensed yet anyway.

H1C working visas needed to be NCLEX passers to be given the working visa as well. There are certainly a lot of arguments of not granting a GC to non-NCLEX passers if they are actually implementing that. This is, of course, just my opinion.

Hi my niece recently had her interview here in manila ,still not an NCLEX passer but she was given the visa and she flew yesterday to US..

If we simply rely on the law for basis, then what you only need is the VS certificate.

You can work as a nurse on an Interim Permit usually for a limited time(check the different state boards).

But then again, I've seen some posts(from mods and members), that there are reports where the interviewer required the nclex-rn pass letter or the actual license if available. I don't know what is the official take/stand of the embassy on this...

What is stated in your employment contract?

Depends on who the petitioner is and which state that one will be going to. Many states do not have the IP available and require the NCLEX passing before one can work in the role of the RN. And this has actually caused some nurses to get held up on their visas.

There is no reason for one to be writing the CGFNS exam any longer, as it is only required for about four states. Always better just to write the NCLEX-RN exam right from the beginning.

And if the nurse does not pass the NCLEX-RN exam when they get to the US, then they cannot work any longer on the IP, and will have to employed only as a CNA, this is what the US Embassy is trying to prevent. Very hard to support a family on that and the visa was actually issued so that the person would be working in the role of the RN. Without being able to pass the exam, then one is not meeting one of the requirements of the green card if you look at in that sense.
