I have a difficult time seeing subtle variables and late variables. I'm talking about very subtle ones that look like varibility ..... knowing this, it makes me worry. Suggestions?

I don't believe there is such a thing as a "late variable" per accepted AWHONN and ACOG nomenclature. There are early, late and variable decels, and there is no significance to categorizing a decel as "variable with late component".

By definition, a variable decel really isn't subtle. It happens suddenly and I believe more than 15bpm drop. That wouldn't be sudden.

You have been asking a lot of questions about how to categorize and recognize decels. I would strongly recommend AWHONN's fetal monitoring courses.

Check the definitions the NICHD guidelines have in place . The definitions are ver specific.
