transferring within a different state??

I work as a flight nurse in one state, and I am often asked to fly to a different state (where I do not have a RN license), and transfer that patient to a hospital in that state.

Is this legal?

I would say that you should check with your BON for this information. I would think you would be, in that you are only transporting/transferring care, but the BON would know. Also your malpractice insurer would know...

I previously did critical care transfer in Wisconsin and have had occasion to cross state lines. More than likely gonna be okay as long as you are either starting your transport or finishing your state of licensure. I probably would not be covered if you started and finished your transport in a different state. There are however instances where it can be okay to start and finish in a different state (mass casualty transfers when requested for mural aid responses).

I would check with board of nursing, but it is probably covered in your services operational plan with state agency.

When I did flight nursing we had to be licensed in the states we landed and treated.
