TPAPN

If it is like Florida's IPN...which I believe it is as FL modeled most of the alternative programs....if you voluntarily leave the program, TPAPN will notify the BON who will immediatley issue a suspension of your license. You will possibley have to appear before the BON to prevent a revokation. In order to lift the suspension in the future you must then go through the entire TPAPN process again.

This did happen to a friend of mine...she is now into her second IPN contract and if she had stayed with it the first time would have been finished a year ago with the entire thing.

You may have to back off and work in something other than nursing for awhile....several members of my group did that while continuing to hunt for the nursing job.....eventually something came along.

THere are 13 members in my group and only one is not working....but he just signed his contract last month and just cleared to work....it takes steel nerves and patience...but a job will come along.

Does anyone know of TPAPN friendly, or at least remotely receptive employers in the Austin area??? I have been in TPAPN for about a year and I am still looking for a job. The case manager / advocate do not respond to calls or e-mails and there is no nurse support group for TPAPN participants to network or vent with. I have tried dialysis, LTC, offices, psych hospitals and major hospitals in the area (who promote themselves as being TPAPN friendly but are NOT) without luck. I'm losing faith. Has anyone else noticed how ironic the TPAPN name is? Where are the "peers"? How does one go about finding others in this situation to talk to? Any help would be appreciated. I have 20 years exp in ER and Critical Care. Thanks.

Just keep trying. Everywhere! Try a different approach. I'm not sure how you're going about it. Try to do a little roll reversal at home and see what might be turning off the hiring manager (besides the obvious). Try waiting till the end of the interview before divulging that you are in the tpapn program...

I had the same experience and found a sympathetic manager in an icu. She got me for cheap, being the rif Raff that I was, but it was a hell of a job..
