Too early to apply?

Hello everyone, I am a current FNP student and I will be graduating in May 2017. I am constantly reviewing my job market and I am wondering, when should I begin to apply for jobs?

Recently I have come across some jobs that are listed for new grads that look very appealing. Is it too early???

Thanks everyone!

I'm all for getting a jump on things which is why I always recommend honing in on a prospective employer when selecting your clinical sites. That way you can essentially have a prolonged job interview during your rotation and remind them as often as possible without being a pest that you have every intention of joining their team after graduation. However if you are looking for a job with no inside connection it seems a bit early. You realistically won't be able to start work until probably July with verification, board exam and prescribing licenses. It might not be a bad idea to send an introductory inquiry but I'd make sure you aren't wasting too much of someone's time. A job that is open now and still open in July might be a red flag.

Jules,

Thanks so much for your insight. I currently have pretty sound feelers out at two of my previous clinical sites, with both verbally offering future employment. However this opportunity seemed really awesome. Maybe I will feel out if they want to precept someone in January.....

:)

Thanks

Agree too early. Maybe 2 to 3 months before graduation. Start the job search. Recruiters will ask you a bunch of questions... even if you won't take the job...it's good practice to hone in your interview skills
