Hello everybody,
I have a very special instructor who have always supported me through my nursing school. She is my nursing instructor by the way. I am graduating from nursing school next week.
I would like to do something for her or give her some gift that is meaningful. I think of a card, and also a gift but what kind? I would appreciate any ideas!

A nice card and maybe a fruit arrangement.

That is really nice of you to do. Is the gift going to be from you or the class? If the gift is from you, give it to her in private. I think giving it to her in front of the class may cause some concerns and perhaps make your instructor feel uncomfortable. Just let her know you would like to meet with her in her office. During your appointment, give her the gift and tell her how much you appreciate everything she has done for you.
I don’t think instructors are appreciated enough. It really is nice that you are showing your appreciation.

Nursing instructor here :) My two cents? A letter, expressing what the instructor has done. Very few people thank others in general these days, especially in the form of a letter. I have kept EVERY letter/note my students have sent to me. They are priceless. On the difficult days when I wonder why I work so hard for so little, those letters always remind me. I push my students hard, expect a lot, but also care a lot. Aside from my family and friends, their accomplishments are some of my greatest joys.
One of my students bought me a leather journal and wrote her letter on the first page. So very meaningful. Also, consider the gift of time. As you grow in your career, keep sharing your accomplishments with your former instructor. I love updates!

Those are great suggestions. Thank you for sharing! I am very sentimental and keep every letter/card anyone gives me, so it's good to know that there are teachers who feel the same way, too. I currently have an amazing instructor and I want her to know that she's awesome, so I wrote her a glowing evaluation and we did a group thank you card and framed photo, but now I think it would be nice to give her a nice individual thank you letter when I'm all done with school!
Awesome ideas, thanks everyone!
This will be my individual gift, not from class.
I never thought of doing this in private not to cause some concern. I will make sure and not give my gift in front of my other class mates.
Letter; I have done this before actually, to this same instructor. I got her a gift and a letter saying how much her help and support meant to me. But I sure can do another letter. :)
I bet she will keep it forever, because she loves me. :)
