you need to contact the course coordinator. if you don't have her/his contact information it is available on the ena state councils and chapters web site.

the 5th edition provider manual would be a good resource if you can find one. otherwise, any trauma nursing text would be a good substitute.

regardless of what you use you might want to review information on disaster management (mass casualty incident/disaster; chemical, biological, nuclear; scene safety, management; incident command; start triage; etc.) as this was added into the 6th edition.

I just got my TNCC book yesterday. It's a pretty thick book...I would listen to chare's advice and contact your coordinator!

TNCC isn't so bad. Compared to ACLS, PALS and ENPC, it's fairly easy. If you have any experience as an EMT, this will help you with TNCC. Just know your A&P for injuries, mechanisms of injury, c-spine stablization, blood loss concerns, spliting, compartment syndroms and all that good stuff.

I really enjoyed TNCC. Full of information. Not sure how much has changed since I took it (it's a four year recert, so I'm not due to recert until next year). I don't remember at this point how the days were set up. I remember at least one full day for classroom, and one day with skills and skills checkoff. I think the most nerve wracking part was the head to toe assessment. One small thing can mess it up (I didn't listen to the heart, although I listened to the lungs, so I missed the chest area), but it's stuff we do already.

They've changed it and made it very difficult. Be sure to read your book very carefully. All the questions are directly from the book. I would estimate that 1/3 of my class failed their first test. The practical is easy but the written part they've made difficult. Good luck.

I think they've changed it within the last year. I took it about 2 months ago.
