Tired and Frustrated

I have only been at my LTC for alittle more than a year now, and I feel burned out. We have had some minor irritating problems at our facility, plus all the major changes I have been through since 2002, I find I can't seem to shake this tired feeling I have all the time.

I still love my facility and my job, but sometimes, I don't feel like going to work. Maybe I need a vacation or at least some mental health days, but right now everyone is taking a vacation, so that has to wait until Sept. Maybe I need to find a different postion, but since I'm a LPN that is limited. I wonder if it has anything to do with working the nightshift. Just when I think I have adjusted to this shift, I suddenly don't feel well rested. I feel so stressed lately... What is wrong with me? :o

:chuckle Yes it sounds like you need a vacation! LTC nursing is very stressful and it is very easy to get "burned out" Good luck

i agree with the vacation, asap.........

wishing you peace.

I'm going through the exact same thing. I talked to my Staffing Coordinator and am changing my hours and the side of the building I work on.

I'm also taking a mini vacation the lat week of August thru the first weekend in September.

Hang in there...we are here for you! :)

Actually...I think the 'night shift' part may be your biggest problem. I worked night shift for almost a year, and let me tell you I felt terrible 24/7. I gained 30 lbs. that year, I was always tired, cranky and felt like a zombie, even when I had 5 days off in a row. If you have never worked night shift before and it isn't agreeing with you, I would suggest changing shifts if possible and seeing how that goes. I have been on day shift a little over a year now, and I feel a whole lot better, even though my job still sucks! LOL
