Time and a place for everything!

Unsolicited advice for anyone who may benefit from it! Find a cadeuces meeting and a sponsor you can talk to. Venting with people in recovery that are healthcare professionals may help you through experiences that are affecting your serenity. Some of the things I share in a group I would never discuss with what some would call "normies". I have friends that are nurses that aren't addicts, and I would share some of these thoughts with them, but they are friends. Sometimes I just need someone to help ground me in my expectations of others. Talking with my recovering healthcare group gives me a different perspective. Talking with my sponsor also helps me sort things out that I may be focused on for no apparent reason. Also, stay clear of controversy. Especially in early recovery. Go to meetings...I could go on, but I wont!

We dont have those around here, unfortunately. We have groups that are ONLY for physicians or those who are in the process of getting a doctoral degree. They just started a healthcare meeting in the state capitol this month.. but its an hour and a half away. I'd like to get to one soon... hopefully this week. But last time i took a trip that long i ended up getting towed back home for 90 bucks :scrying:

I also read somewhere that at those caduceus meetings you have to be careful with what you say because people have been known to go back to the board and 'squeal' on anyone "THEY" think arent following the rules or might be relapsing, etc. Not sure if that is true or not. You are lucky to have those meetings near you. I've had this terrible fear of going to meetings and keep coming up with excuses to put off going. Dont ask me why. But I know I have to go SOON!!

I think its great there are so many supportive people here who are always willing to help each other out. I"d be lost without this forum.. even if its just going back and reading old posts. it has helped give me a little tiny itty bitty glimmer of HOPE that i might just possible make it through this ;)
