I have been working as a LPN for 3 years and I am starting to feel like I don't know enough to perform my job properly. I have mainly worked in LTC, 6 months at a correctional facility. I have become the dumb nurse at work who screws up everything, at least that's what some of my co-workers say behind my back. I just started at this facility, I haven't even received a full paycheck. I stay over every night 1-2 hours documenting, trying to cross all the t's and dot i's but they always find something to complain about. I am not a softy, my skin is thick but I cry sometimes when I leave feeling like I just can't get it right. I have always had confidence in my abilities to be a nurse but its fading fast.

There is always a period of adjustment with every new job even as an experienced nurse. Try not to worry about what your new coworkers are saying behind your back. Do your job to the best of your ability, ask for help from your DON/manager and push on. Things will get easier as you learn the policy/expectations of this new facility. Good luck.

Do your patients like you? Are you responsive to their needs and health problems. That's what you're their for. Not your crabby complaining critical co-workers. But, it's really a good idea to get along with the people you work with. Just keep at it. Take care of yourself and hold your head up.
