Thomas Jefferson??

Published

Hey Everyone,

I am currently living in San Diego, CA but I have been looking at different nursing schools around the country. I came across the Thomas Jeffereson located in Philidelphia and it loooks like a really good school.

I was just wondering if anyone knows about this school, or has heard about this school.

I would love to know your imput on a school I'm considering moving across the country to attend!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH:bow:

Hi, I'm a new grad RN going right back to school for BSN at Thomas Jefferson University for fall '08 (RN-BSN program). I just had an interview today and got accepted! I found the people at Admissions very nice and professional. Although people who handles the documents and papers (the transcripts, application, essays and other stuff) said that they have lost my copy of license couple of weeks ago,,, but after more than 10 calls they have found it somehow. So after all my info was in thier data system, which was a day after, I got an email to set up an interview which I thought was quick. I hear that generally they handle matters very efficiently if it's not anything like scholarships or financial aid.

Personally, I chose this school over other schools because of its flexible class (I can take it online or in-class or mix), location (center city!! lots of history, culture, fun and interesting people), reputation (more than 100 yrs of service only in health care). - I also heard that they have very good clinical instructors. :)

I might be able to give you more specific info once I go to the orientation and actually start the school. Just keep searching on different schools and hope you find the best one for you!

Thank you SO MUCH!! it's good to know something more about this school than what the schools website shows.

if i could pick your brain on a few questions i had that would be great. I am hoping to get accepted for the fall 2009 and was wondering if you knew what the weight is of the NET exam and the interview and the essays?? i'm super excited about the school. i emailed someone that helps with the program and she said that they accept 60 people and they receive anywhere from 400-600 applications per year.

i am hoping i get accepted to the school and make my way from the west coast to the east coast for school!!

The NET is ONLY required if you are applying to the ASN program. Are you applying to the ASN or the BSN program?

Jefferson's program has an excellent reputation. Every doctor I've talked to says "You'll get great training at Jefferson".

I am starting the Accelerated Pathway to the MSN program in September. (Essentially a BSN with 9 MSN credits by the time you finish your BSN.) I already have a Bachelor's degree. For me, the interview seemed like a formality. As long as I didn't say something really stupid, it appeared they had already decided to let me in, as I was immediately told "Congratulations. You've been accepted" before I even stood up from the interview. I don't know if that's the case for everyone.

APPLY AS EARLY AS YOU CAN. They have a rolling admissions policy, and they start making decisions in December. I think the first admissions priority date is October 15 or something like that. Even if you have some prerequisites to finish, APPLY EARLY. They didn't make a decision on me until I had completed at least *some* of my prereqs last Fall, but then I was "in the loop" and just had to submit my Fall grades and got an admissions decision in January. I still have a couple of prereqs to finish up this summer, but as long as I finish them with a C or better, my start date won't be delayed.

I've spoken with students here and in person, and they all told me the teachers were supportive. Sounds good to me! I'm sure there's some less-than stellar teachers here and there, but overall, I've heard very positive things.

Good luck!

I applied to the school for the ASN/BSN program. It is a 2 year program. You have to take the Net and you need to write an essay and have your transcripts if any sent to them. Once youve done this then you wait for a response. The last decision date for the year for fall is July. I am studying for the Net now as that is the only thing I have to do before I'll know if im accepted or not. Basicly once youve taken all the classes for the ASN program you will then site for the NCLEX exam and become and RN then if you choose you to continue you are automatically in the BSN program. If you choose to continue for the MSN program and you have a good GPA then youll be admitted to that program without having to take the GRE. Hope this answers all your questions. ( ill be taking the NET exam this upcoming week.)

Hi! Good luck on your study! I also heard good things about Jefferson so far, that I will get hired 100% the moment I graduate. :) The school's got a very good reputation indeed.

My interview experience was very similar to yours. It took about 10 minutes - to my surprise- and about after very 'formal' six questions, I was accepted. I even asked the lady, "Am I (already) accepted?" cuz it was so quick!:chuckle

when does the interview come in?? after all of your info is recieved?? Do you know the minimun score for the NET test??

Yes, I was able to schedule my interview after they received all the documents. They emailed me about it so you should check your email after turning in all the necessary documents. For me, I got 84 on my NET when I was attending previous college. Jefferson took that score so I didn't have to take another NET to get in. I don't know the minimum score for Jefferson. Sorry! Good luck with you.

thanks, yea i am taking the net at my community college, so that is good to know that i wont have to take it again. So did you get in? what semester/year?

I'm in Jefferson's RN-BSN program right now and I'll be graduating this May of 2009. The job market is kinda bad nowadays and that worries me a lot but what can I do.. I'll just keep apply. Wish you the best luck with everything!:D
