You are a graduate nurse until you receive your license to practice as an RN from the state. It has nothing to do with whether you have a job or not! If you just passed the NCLEX, you should be hearing from your state fairly soon; also, you can check your BON website and use the "verify license" function there to see if you show up yet on the website as a licensed nurse.
You can apply for RN positions and tell potential employers that you've passed the NCLEX -- at this point, it is just a matter of time until you get your license.
Congratulations! :balloons:
You are an RN..but still may be elligable for GN positions. Some hospitals have longer orientations for new grads. I thought that I had to apply as a GN to my hospital..but couldn't find the paperwork so I applied for an open RN position on the floor...expecting them to direct me to the new grad program. Instead..they hired me on and gave me a great orientation.
Good luck to you ...RN!!! And CONGRATS!

Hello
This may be a dumb question, but I really have no clue. Now i graduated from nursing school in December and passed my nclex in march 2008. Now am I still a graduate nurse or am i an RN? I consider myself a GN because I graduated and I don't have a job as of yet and the only experience I have is that of clinicals. Now when I apply to jobs I go for the GN jobs, but I'm not sure if that is a mistake or not. I went to a job fair and most all of the people had not taken the nclex yet. So i'm a bit confused.
. I hope that someone can answer my question...am i a GN or am I a RN? LOL:confused:
